2023 started strong for Mel Reid and will end on perhaps the same note. Towards the start of the year, the LPGA star announced her pregnancy, and then last month she welcomed her first child, Kai William Reid, into the world. Reid is wrapping up the year by participating in the one-of-a-kind Grant Thornton Invitational as a new mom.

The tournament has a slew of top-class ambassadors, and Ried is one of them. And just like all the other pros on the field, she is full of support for the unique opportunity that the tournament is bringing, with 16 LPGA and 16 PGAT golfers joining hands. And the 36-year-old has stocked her bag well for it.

This week, paired up with Russell Henley, Mel Ried has double tasks on her head. Apart from being an ambassador, she is also playing in the event. Praising the event’s motto, Ried even said, “Greater representation of unique and diverse voices in the largest stages. You have to see someone in order to believe you can be them.”

The golfer’s words could not be more apt, and to further promote them, she is undoubtedly looking for a win this week. And with the variety of clubs in her bag to help her on the greens, she just might pull it off!

For her driving skills, the LPGA Pro counts on the Ping G400 Max driver, which comes with the Aldila Rogue Green shaft. Mel Ried has been using this driver since 2020, and with it, she has amassed a driving accuracy of 63.42%, ranking 152 on the Tour.

When it comes to her irons, the English golfer depends on the Mizuno MP20 HMB. For better performance, Ried had their shaft changed to Accra iSeries iCWT 2.0 graphite. Another iron she uses is the Srixon ZX Utility. The golf pro’s choice for Fairway Woods, moreover, is the TaylorMade SIM Ti, which comes with a Fujikura Ventus Blue shaft. It retails for $230.

What putter and wedge does Reid use?

For her putter, Reid counts on the Piretti Matera Elite Midnight Black Special Edition, which sells for $310. The club has helped her achieve a putting average of 30.46, ranking 137 on the list. Her putts per GIR stand at 1.84.

Her choice of the wedge is the $180 Callaway Jaws MD5 Raw. The club features a tri-level solo design; its toe pads control trajectory and enhance forgiveness. For her additional equipment, Reid goes more mainstream with her balls (V1 Pro) and gloves, both from Titleist.
