The tensions for the 2023 CPKC Women’s Open have reached its climax as the tournament saw a close competition of sorts in Canada. Although the field of golfers put up a commendable performance, only one player was able to clinch the title. And taking home the winner’s cut from the $2.5 prize purse is none other than Megan Khang.
As the day came to a close at the Shaughnessy Golf Course, the golf world saw an edgy final round to watch the 25-year-old lift the trophy. The relative newcomer pushed past Jin Young Ko to mark her name in golfing history.

In a stunning display, the American professional managed to take home a winner’s cut of $375,000 from the total prize pool. As the fourth day came to a close, the golfer saw herself on the top of the leaderboard tied with Jin Young Ko at the No.1 spot.
The LPGA Tour pro managed to emerge victorious in the following playoffs as they took to the 18th hole. Khang beat Ko with a par score, making it a special win for the history books.
The golfer made sure to script her first-ever win in her career as she lifted her maiden trophy in the LPGA event. Moreover, she will be looking forward to carrying the momentum into the upcoming Solheim Cup while representing the American team for the event.

A maiden win for Khang
The LPGA star marked her first win in her career with a win at the 2023 CPKC Women’s Open. She was tied with Jin Young Ko for the top spot with a score of 9 overall under 279 after scoring a 74 (+2) in the final round. In the subsequent playoff hole, Khang managed to score an even par while the latter could only register a 2 over par in the 18 hole.
Although the LPGA icon has not had any victories to her name, Megan boasts 33 top-10 finishes under her belt. Her recent major finishes include a T3 in the 2023 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship with a 6-under 278 taking home a cut of $423,070. Moreover, her best finishes excluding the recent victory comprise of a T2 finish at the 2022 Dana Open and a T3 finish at the 2022 Palos Verdes Championship.
