Thidapa ‘Jasmine’ Suwannapura has been a name to watch ever since her breakthrough win at the Marathon Classic in 2018. With $3.6 million in career earnings and 13 years on the LPGA Tour, she’s carved out a reputation as a talented competitor, honing her skills since the age of five. But 2024 hasn’t been her best year—only three top-10 finishes so far. Still, her journey is more than just numbers and finishes; it’s one of resilience, flair, and fashion.

Born on November 20, 1992, in Bangkok, Thailand, Suwannapura was first introduced to golf by her father, and by age 18, she was winning titles like the 2010 Riverwood Junior Open in the Netherlands. Her early years were filled with appearances in prestigious youth tournaments, including the Honda LPGA Thailand as an amateur in 2006, 2008, and 2010. But Suwannapura isn’t just a golfer—she’s also known for her eye-catching style.

Thidapa Suwannapura Loves to be Fashionable

Known as one of the most stylish players on tour, Suwannapura stands out for her partnership with SwingDish, a women’s golf apparel brand. It all started during the pro-am at the Diamond Resorts Tournament of Champions, where she was paired with musicians Toby Keith and Colt Ford. Suwannapura soon discovered that Keith’s wife, Tricia Covel, owned SwingDish—and the partnership was sealed within a day. “Everything was done within a day,” Suwannapura said of the deal, and the rest is history.

“SwingDish is excited to partner with Suwannapura because she loves our brand,” said Angela Myers, a representative for the company. “She represents herself with respect and confidence, and we believe she will do the same for SwingDish.” And it’s clear that Suwannapura loves her on-course fashion. She describes her outfits as “more colorful” and loves how they allow her to “stand out pretty good.” It’s about comfort, style, and being unapologetically herself.

Yet, life on the LPGA Tour hasn’t always been glamorous. Suwannapura has faced setbacks, including a severe injury that tested her resolve. Still, whether it’s fighting through adversity or dazzling in SwingDish apparel, Jasmine Suwannapura keeps pushing forward—proving that golf, like fashion, is all about how you wear it.

Thidapa Suwannapura’s Injury Problems

In a post titled, “Remembering The Week At Kingsmill That Changed My Life” on the LPGA’s website, she recounted her injury. In 2016, “Jasmine“, had to undergo surgery to fix a ruptured disc in her back. She felt a sudden pain and numbness in her leg when she was in Dubai on the Ladies European Tour.  “Are you sure you want to play?” asked her mom, who had accompanied her on tour. Suwannapura said that she is a “fighter” and chose to ignore the pain. Unfortunately, during her next tournament at her Kingsmill Resort in Virginia, Jasmine heard a “pop” in her back and what followed was “the most physical pain I had ever experienced in my life“. She had to withdraw from the tournament and visit a doctor. After a few scans by the spine specialist, she was informed about her injury.

“If you don’t have this surgery, there is a good chance that you will be in a wheelchair for the rest of your life”. said the doctor. A harrowing statement that understandably had Suwannapura” in shock“. Thankfully for her, Singha, her sponsor, reassured her and paid for the surgery. She was grateful to her sponsors for their kindness and “gets emotional” when she thinks about it. The surgery lasted for a grueling 4 hours and doctors advised her to stay away from golf for at least 3 months. But being true to her fighting spirit, she was back at it in just a month and a half.

She went back to Thailand and started working on getting back into her practice routine. Consequently, she underwent a major swing change to relieve the pressure on her back. Understandably, the switch must have been extremely difficult for her to adjust to, but she eventually gained confidence and eventually won her first PGA Tour event.
