Justin Leonard and Davis Love III were among the last professionals to shift from the persimmon drivers. But who is the final professional to win the Masters using the old generation club?

Bernhard Langer is the last professional to win the Masters using the persimmon driver head. The German professional won his second green jacket using the driver. Moreover, the two other professionals to win the last major championship using the small sweet spot driver were Tom Kite, who won the 1992 US Open at Pebble Beach, and Sir Nick Faldo, who won the 1992 Open Championship.

The last professional to win the PGA Championship using the persimmon driver was Payne Stewart. He won the 1989 PGA Championship with an overall score of 12-under-par using the driver.

Bernhard Langer’s 1993 win at Augusta

The German professional won the 1993 Masters at Augusta National to clinch his second green jacket. Langer won the event with an overall score of 10-under-par. As a result, he won the event with a comfortable three-shot advantage.

The nine-time major championship winner carded a final round of two-under-par, 70 to wrap up at Augusta National Golf Club win. Chip Beck finished as the runner-up to Langer. He needed the event with an overall score of seven-under-par in the solo second position.
