Rasmus Hojgaard and his identical twin brother Nicolai Hojgaard were born on March 12, 2001, in Billund, Denmark. From an early age, the brothers were inclined towards sports as they were raised by an athletic father and a very supportive mother. Father of the twins, Ole Hojgaard is a former Danish football player. He played for the Denmark international team and represented his country 5 times. However, there is not much information available about Rasmus Hojgaard’s mother, Tina’s profession. But she is always mentioned alongside Ole when the life of either of their twin sons is discussed.

As far as the twins go, both the Hojgaard brothers are excellent golf players. They started their journey in golf together at the age of 4. Being a sports enthusiast himself, Ole saw this as an opportunity to bond with his children and encouraged them to pursue golf. They also received a lot of support and motivation from their mother.

The hard work put in by the Hojgaard family was soon followed by success. Apart from Rasmus Hojgaard’s victories, his twin brother has also won a few tournaments since he turned pro in 2019. Nicolai Hojgaard is a 3x DP World Tour winner with the 2023 DP World Tour Championship being one of his biggest achievements as he beat the likes of Jon Rahm and Viktor Hovland. He is also a part of the ‘nearly’ club as he has finished as a runner-up in 2 PGA Tour events. On the other hand, Nicolai Hojgaard has definitely performed much better in the PGA Tour so far as compared to his brother.

The triumph of one of the identical twins has always come at the cost of the failure of the other. The brothers are accustomed to having “mixed emotions” over each other’s achievements over the years. Yet, they have always had each other’s back as displayed on one of Rasmus Hojgaard’s Instagram posts. During an email conversation with Times Of India, Rasmus Hojgaard said, “Nicolai and I have a very healthy, competitive relationship,” as he discussed the dynamic with his brother. He further added, “I wouldn’t call it a ‘rivalry’ as we are very supportive of each other, but it’s always been competitive since we were young.” Rasmus Hojgaard further stated, “If Nicolai is performing well, it makes me even more focused and that has helped us get to where we are today,” as he explained how the twins keep each other on their toes.

In the same interview, Rasmus Hojgaard also talks about how his parents, Ole and Tina used to struggle to celebrate one of their son’s achievements while supporting the other. He said, “In the early years, yes, as they didn’t know how to celebrate with one and support the other, but that’s become a lot easier over time. They understood our careers were not always going to be side-by-side.”
