The amateur golfer was born in Hialeah, Florida, and creating waves as a young golfer is not an easy task. It requires a whole army, and well, Clanton sure has one. Let us dive deeper to know about his loving parents, other family members, and his partner on the greens, his looper.

On November 5, 2003, David and Rhonda Clanton welcomed their third child, Luke Clanton, into the world. The loving parents have always supported their youngest child. David works three jobs. He is a golf instructor and a landscaper and also owns a glass business. Luke Clanton was exposed to golf from a young age by his father, and he left no stone unturned to hone his skills at the Country Club of Miami. David was his son’s first-ever instructor.

The amateur golfer’s mother, Rhonda, is a flight attendant who works 15-hour shifts. Luke Clanton learned the importance and value of hard work from his parents. Other than his parents, other people in his life have also supported him in his golf journey: his sisters Ray and Abby.

Luke Clanton’s other two pillars of support are his sisters Ray and Abby

When it comes to selflessness and sacrifices, his elder sisters come into play: Ray, who moved to New York City at 18 to pursue a career in modeling and photography, and Abby, who used to play collegiate soccer at West Alabama and is presently a veterinarian at Minnesota, sacrificed their hobbies for Luke to pursue his dreams to be a golfer.

Luke Clanton never backs away from praising his sisters for what they have done. In a pre-match presser for the 2024 US Open, he said, “Abby was one of the best soccer players growing up. “She was unbelievable, and she didn’t go to certain colleges because of me. She wanted to be a zoologist and all these things, and Ray felt the same way. I was young, and they were already saying, ‘I don’t want to travel as much; save money for him.”

2024 has been going pretty well for Luke Clanton, and there is another person in his current support system, his caddie, Jason Wiertel.

Clanton’s caddie is his biggest help on the greens

The 20-year-old seems to have a close and fun relationship with his caddie, Jason Wiertel, as evident from several things. During the third round of the Rocket Mortgage Classic, the 20-year-old was keeping an eye on the scoreboard, but as the game progressed, they began talking about other very important things, that as eating.

“We were talking about where to go to eat already,” Clanton said. On his Instagram account, Clanton often shares photos of him and his caddie sharing some moments on the greens. As Clanton said, “Golf is fun,” and it sure is when he has his looper around to navigate the course in the best possible way.

The 2024 Rocket Mortgage Classic was Clanton’s PGA Tour debut after getting a sponsor exemption from the event. He performed exceptionally well and finished just 4 strokes behind the winner, Cam Davis. Interestingly, Clanton was one of the four amateurs who played at the 2024 RMC.

Before the 2024 Rocket Mortgage Classic, he finished at T41 in the 2024 US Open, tying with eight golfers, including the veterans such as Scottie Scheffler and Jordan Speith. In an Instagram post shared by ‘Pinehurst Resort’ on its official account, the golfer can be seen having fun at the major.
