Asterisk Talley has always been a star in the making. She is a two-time Drive, Chip, and Putt National Finalist, finishing runner-up in the Girls 7-9 age division in 2018. She also finished fifth in the girls 12–13 age division at Augusta National in 2022. Additionally, her more recent achievements have also significantly contributed to her fame.

Speaking of her recent achievements, last year, Talley won three World Amateur Golf Ranking events, including the Seri Pak Desert Junior and Rolex Girls Junior Championship. She also represented the United States in the Junior Solheim Cup in Spain and reached the Round of 32 in the U.S. Girls’ Junior.

With such an impressive record, it is no surprise that Asterisk Talley has achieved so much in golf at such a young age. And her incredible run is now continuing at the 2024 U.S. Women’s Open. She’s one of only 12 players who’ve carded an even par or under round on opening day.

Talley is hungry for more

Competing against some of the best golfers in the world this week at the 2024 U.S. Women’s Open Golf Championship, Talley, who is also the youngest golfer in the field at 15 years and 105 days old, teed off at the Lancaster Country Club in Pennsylvania at 9:41 a.m. on Thursday.

On Thursday she shot a 70 despite carding a triple bogey on hole 12 ending her round at T5. She is just 3 shots behind the leader Yuka Saso and still has three days to go, hence a victory is not too far-fetched a dream.

“I feel like I could have done a lot better today, but I’m not mad at my round at all,” Talley said, hungry despite her incredible four birdies during the round. “It was hard, yeah, for sure… I feel like I’m happy with how I hit.” No doubt she hopes to improve on that feat in the coming days. Whether she’ll be able to, however, remains to be seen!
