What’s your perspective on:

With $814,290 in earnings, is Curtis Luck's PGA journey a success or just getting started?

Have an interesting take?

He joined the PGA Tour in 2019 and has played in 38 events so far. This has managed to get his career earnings to a whopping $814,290 from the American Tour in just five years.  This year alone he competed in 11 events and made 5 cuts. His best finish of the 2024 season was a forgetful T27 at the Utah Championship presented by Zions Bank and Intermountain Health wherein he scored 16 under. However, the journey has not been easy at all for the Australian pro golfer. As it turns out, he had to give in a lot. Additionally, he had taken up breaks as well, which further fueled him to become better at the game.

Curtis Luck’s extended break from the game

Curtis Luck had to miss playing golf for three months after playing in Savannah in May. He ended up injuring himself, and well, while he was meant to return very soon, he could not because right after his recovery, he welcomed his newborn niece. After three months he returned to the NV5 International at the Korn Ferry Tour, and said, “The time off was probably good, but it ended up being more time off than I ever needed.” This also resulted him in playing fewer events this year. Nonetheless, the Aussie seems to be in full swing, trying to grab a victory.

That is not all for miseries. In 2023, he faced another setback. Curtis Luck was scheduled to take part in the Albertsons Boise Open as part of the Korn Ferry Tour that week. The event, held at the Hillcrest Country Club in Los Angeles, was set to have Luck play in the first round on Thursday. However, due to missing his tee time, the decision was made to disqualify Luck from the tournament. The Australian had failed to show up on time for his 7:45 a.m. tee time, mistakenly believing he was due to arrive slightly later.

A statement from the Korn Ferry Tour confirmed the reason for Luck’s disqualification. The statement read: “Curtis Luck missed his first-round tee time and did not arrive within the five additional minutes allotted under Rule 5.3a, and was subsequently disqualified. Luck did not meet any of the three exceptions within Rule 5.3a.” But well, all is well that ends well right? Let us know what are your thoughts on the journey of the player.
