A look into the amateur career of Angel Hidalgo
“I would truly like to—at least I will try to. Right now, when I’m playing so well, even more so, but that would be another couple of years, God willing,” said Hidalgo when asked about whether he sees golf as a career years ago. It seems like he did it. Angel Hidalgo won the Spanish Amateur twice in 2016 and 2018. He also played for his country at the European Amateur Team Championship three times and even won it once back in 2017.
2018 was a glorious year for him. Aside from the Spanish Amateur title, he also claimed bronze for Spain at the 2018 Eisenhower Trophy in Ireland. In the same year, he also played at the Bonallack Trophy for his continent and claimed the trophy for the first time since 2012. After having a successful career in amateur golf, he later turned pro in 2018. Although he started his career on the Alps Tour, he currently plays the DP World Tour. Overall, Angel Hidalgo seems like a motivated person. It will be interesting to see how his career unfolds from here.
