Motivated by his father and grandfather to play golf, Angel Hidalgo touched the golf club with his little hands when he was just two years old. Angel Hidalgo was born on April 28th, 1998, in Marbella, Andalusia. His golf journey started at the Golf El Ángel Academy in Marbella’s Golf Valley. His father, Ángel Hidalgo Jordán, was also a professional golfer; however, he is now working as a police officer.

His father indeed showed him the greens; he also wanted his son to complete his studies. Hidalgo talked about it once, saying, “What he especially wants is for me to complete my studies; that’s the main thing for him. And if golf works out well, even better, but studies first,” as revealed on Andalucia Golf.

Hidalgo is private about his personal life. As a result, only his father’s name is known, and there is no information about his school and college life. Interestingly, the golfer refers to his mom as the “boss” and his father as the “commander.”

“I would truly like to—at least I will try to. Right now, when I’m playing so well, even more so, but that would be another couple of years, God willing,” said Hidalgo when asked about whether he sees golf as a career years ago. It seems like he did it. Angel Hidalgo won the Spanish Amateur twice in 2016 and 2018. He also played for his country at the European Amateur Team Championship three times and even won it once back in 2017.

2018 was a glorious year for him. Aside from the Spanish Amateur title, he also claimed bronze for Spain at the 2018 Eisenhower Trophy in Ireland. In the same year, he also played at the Bonallack Trophy for his continent and claimed the trophy for the first time since 2012. After having a successful career in amateur golf, he later turned pro in 2018. Although he started his career on the Alps Tour, he currently plays the DP World Tour. Overall, Angel Hidalgo seems like a motivated person. It will be interesting to see how his career unfolds from here.
