The world of golf has never been more exciting, with a fresh wave of rising stars bringing a new energy to the game. From young phenoms dominating major tournaments to players with dynamic styles reshaping the sport’s landscape, golf is in the midst of a thrilling transformation. Alejandro del Rey is one such name. Here’s everything you need to know about the DP World Tour Pro.
The 26 YO is active on his Instagram account with 5,076 followers as of writing this. He has close to 400 posts, and most of them are about golf. That is what shows how passionate he is about the sport. He was born on February 18, 1998, in Madrid, Spain. He is a Spanish golfer who plays on the European Tour. However, not much information is available about his parents, except for the fact that his father was a professional soccer player in Spain. So, it is safe to deduce that some sort of athleticism ran in his family.
It appears that the pro golfer is fond of keeping his life under the wraps, as the details available about the player himself is thin. He has only three connections on LinkedIn and rarely any posts. The 26 YO attended Arizona State University to pursue his bachelor’s degree in BIS (Business and Sociology) from 2016 to 2020. Before completing his degree, he got into the Arizona Junior Golf Association as an intern and has been working there for almost six years now.
The Spanish player also has mentioned only golf on his LinkedIn. Even his bio says, “My goals are to finish my degree and once I’m done I would like to play golf for a living. I am working as an intern at the Arizona Junior Golf Association in case I can’t play golf for a living I would love to have a job in which golf would be a part of it.

That is how much he is still fascinated by the sport. His journey into the world of golf too was a rather fascinating one.
Alejandro del Rey’s golfing journey
Alejandro Del Rey turned professional in 2020 and quickly made a name for himself on the Alps Tour, securing a victory at the Open de la Mirabelle d’Or in France that September. In 2021, he moved up to the Challenge Tour, where he made history by shooting a remarkable 58 at the Swiss Challenge — the lowest round ever recorded on a European tour and the best to-par score (−14) on any major tour worldwide.
The following year, in 2022, Del Rey claimed the German Challenge title and finished 22nd on the Road to Mallorca, just missing out on a European Tour card. However, he earned his card through a strong performance at Q-school. In 2023, after joining the European Tour, he tied for 3rd at the inaugural Singapore Classic.
As the 2024 season kicked off, Del Rey continued his strong play with a tied 5th finish at the Investec South African Open Championship and a tied 7th finish at the Alfred Dunhill Championship. His journey might be a slow one, but is surely making waves! Stay tuned to find out more updates on the Prodigy.
