The 2023 Senior Open Championship is well underway at the Royal Porthcawl Golf Club. It is the fifth and final major championship of the year for golfers aged 50 and above. While the golf world is eagerly awaiting the player who will be crowned the best, the golfers take up this chance to go a step further and spend special time with their loved ones besides dazzling with their performance on the course.

As tensions soar high among the players as to who will lift the title, certain instances in the field bring much warmth to the heart. A recent video of a pro golfer showcasing his dedication to the game with his caddie has won the hearts of many fans worldwide as his emotional interview after the round left a touching impact upon many in the golfing community. Rich Beem’s heartfelt moment with his caddie

The golfing world has seen a lot of heartwarming moments in the gentleman’s game. Although pressure might be high while playing a tournament, the true golfers make sure to enjoy the moment with their loved ones. That is exactly what Rich Beem did during the Seniors Open Championship as he played the event in the company of his caddie — none other than his beloved son!

In the recent post uploaded on Instagram, he is seen putting the ball on the last hole of the second day. He is accompanied by his son on his bag, playing the role of a caddie for his father. In the emotional video, the father-son duo is seen celebrating making the cut after the ball goes into the hole and they hug hard in a moment of pure bliss. The crowd and the commentators alike were able to feel the heartfelt emotions. The commentators went on to say: “isn’t that just a wonderful, wonderful scene?!!”

In the post round interview, the American senior golfer was excited while talking about his son, also his caddie. “It means the world to me… probably one of the most extraordinary months I’ve had since I’ve been doing the job (commentating),” he said while answering a question about spending time with his looper. “He’s been tremendous… supportive, he’s read some great putts and he’s been a massive bonus this week,” continued the proud father, praising his performance.

Beem’s performance at the 2023 Senior Open

The 52-year-old American golfer had a bumpy ride during the Senior Open as he went ahead to score 75 (+4), 71 and 79 (+8) during the first, second and third rounds respectively. He scored five birdies and an eagle over the three days as he finished at a score of  8-over-par on Saturday. Although a rough event for him, it has not been disappointing altogether. After all he made the cut.

The senior golfer had his first major win at the PGA Championship in 2002 where he scored a 10-under-par 278. His other PGA Tour Wins include the 1999 Kemper Open and The International in 2002.
