Max Homa’s 2025 PGA Tour run so far? Let’s just say, it ain’t been pretty. Started with a T26 at Sentry, got hit with a WD at Farmers, scraped by with a T53 at AT&T Pebble Beach, and then missed back-to-back cuts at Phoenix and Genesis. He’s got more Ls than birdies right now. Time for an arc?

The 6-time PGA tour winner has been very candid about his struggles on the course. “It’s a hard game, man, and when it doesn’t like you back, it gets very difficult,” Homa said. He has yet to win a PGA Tour since claiming the Farmers Insurance Open in Jan 2023, more than two years ago. to say that he is going through a struggle is kind of an understatement.“I’ve had some really bad weeks. When we were here two or three weeks ago, I played horrendous, played awful at Pebble, and then last week was finally a massive breakthrough on Monday, Tuesday. I’ve been just going backwards for months.”

The American golfer is also a part of Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy-led TGL where he suits up for the former’s team Jupiter Links Golf Club. There also he has not had much luck. In the most recent game, Homa’s team lost to Bay Golf Club by a score of 6-3. Despite the loss, Homa has maintained a sense of positiveness, which is completely opposite to what he had before.

Max Homa optimistic about TGL playoff hopes

Jupiter Links Golf Club is currently fifth in standings one point below New York Golf Club in the 4th and last playoff spot. The setup means that the last match for the team is a must-win situation against Atlanta Drive Golf Club. Homa showed a surprisingly positive mindset to his team’s current scenario, compared to his PGA Tour reaction. “Yeah, win. If it’s must-win, you’ve got to win. Stuck between a must-win and can’t-lose type situation.”

Despite the result saying otherwise, Max Homa felt that the team, in the absence of Tiger Woods in the lineup displayed good mettle. In fact, the last hole of the triples was the undoing for them, as they conceded three points under the hammer to the Bay Golf Club. They ended up losing by three points. “I thought we played really well. Obviously this is only my second match. The first one we played awful,” Homa stated.

The result against Atlanta Drive GC is not enough alone. Jupiter Links will also need Boston Common Golf to oust the New York Golf Club to have any shot at qualifying for the playoffs. But they would nevertheless be looking to finish strong, no matter what happens in the other game. “It was fun to at least come out here and see that we could hole some putts and make some birdies and do some good things out there.”

The only victory for the Jupiter Links Golf Club came without Homa in the lineup and that was against the Boston Common Golf. The Arizona resident will be extremely motivated for the next round of fixtures to add a victory to his name. He seems ready for it. “It sucks to take an L, but at the same time, at least on my end, I know these guys all have a win under their belt, but we do get another shot at it next week with some golf momentum, not necessarily in the win column, but some golf momentum,” Homa added. So, where is this sudden change in mindset coming from for Max Homa? Maybe, Scottie Scheffler can give an answer to that.

Max Homa’s never-give-up attitude

Post the Waste Management Phoenix Open in TPC Scottsdale, Arizona, World No.1 Scottie Scheffler was very appreciative of Homa’s mentality even in difficult circumstances. Scottie Scheffler praised his compatriot, “Max is a guy who, you know, he didn’t have his best stuff this week, but his attitude is always great.”

Max started with a 4-over par on day 1 in Arizona. Any other person would have found themselves thinking about the mountain that was ahead. But Max kept at it the next day improving his day 1 score by 7 strokes. Although he ended up missing the cut, the improvement is a clear indication of the mentality the six-time PGA Tour winner shows time and again. “That’s the stuff when he looks back and he kind of gets out of this little rut that he’s in; that’s the stuff I think you look back on is kind of fighting for every shot, no matter the situation,” the Texas native added.
