Can Matteo Manassero's gear choices give him the edge he needs to dominate the Irish Open?

Matteo Manassero became the youngest golfer to win on the DP World Tour at the age of 17. It was the year 2010 when he won Castello Masters Costa Azahar in Spain, after defeating Ignacio Garrido by four strokes. This win helped him break the record of being the youngest DPWT winner that Danny Lee made at the 2009 Johnnie Walker Classic.

The Italian golfer has bagged five wins on the Tour, including the 2013 BMW PGA Championship. He finished T3 at the Amgen Irish Open, 2 strokes behind the winner, Rasmus Hojgaard. Let us see what the golfer had in his bag for the event.

Matteo Manassero is a Titleist guy. From his drivers to his fairways, all belong to the same company, and that is because he is a full-time 14-club staff player with Titleist. For the driver, he uses the Titleist TSR3 driver, with a 10-degree loft. This is priced at $600 and is recognized as one of the best drivers by the Golf Digest. Manassero uses it with the Fujikura Ventura TR Red 6 X shaft for better consistency of flight.

For the 3-wood, he uses the Titleist, TSR2, with a 15-degree loft. It enables easy launching of the bombs into the holes and also has exceptional forgiveness, which makes it the perfect choice for hitting average distance. He equips it with the Graphite Design Tour AD-IZ shaft. It is priced at approximately $349. He also uses the GT2 Fairway which is priced at $399. This is best known for giving out an impressive launch, distance, and forgiveness even from tight lies, equipping it with the same shaft.

For the irons, the 31-year-old pro opts for the Titleist T200 for his 4-iron. The rest of his set includes the Titleist T100s in 5-PW. He equips all his irons with the Project X 6.5 shafts, which makes it one of the greatest equipment for his shots. The T150 irons are two degrees stronger than the T100 irons throughout the set, making them faster irons to be used on the Tour.
