“Matt is an incredibly smart, intellectual player. No one is better when it comes to golf course management,” says Rory McIlroy about his TGL-mate Matt Fitzpatrick. The golfer from England is going to play New York GC. His first match will be against The Bay GC. It will be interesting to see who will win.
Notably, Fitzpatrick became the second player to win the U.S. Open and U.S. Amateur at the same venue, The Country Club in Brookline, Massachusetts. The TGL is starting after a delay of 1 year, and fans must be eager for it. As we get ready for the first match, here is what Fitzpatrick will have in his bag to get the early lead.

Fitzpatrick’s updated 2025 club lineup demonstrates his dedication to success. The Mitsubishi Tensei AV Raw Orange 65 TX shaft and the Titleist TSi3 driver, which is adjusted at 9 degrees, are at the top of his bag. Fitzpatrick’s quest for accuracy and distance coincides perfectly with this driver, which retails for about $549 and is renowned for its remarkable speed and flexibility.
The Titleist TSR2 3-wood, which has a Mitsubishi Tensei AV Raw Orange 75 TX shaft, goes well with his driver. This one is priced at $349 and offers more forgiveness. This club has proved to be very consistent with launch and spin. Fitzpatrick has made a significant change by switching to Titleist T100 irons, particularly the specially ground ones that were unveiled at the 2024 Travelers Championship. An average set of seven Titleist irons costs $1,225, with each club costing an estimated $175.
“Fitzpatrick’s irons are especially unique, though, because they come with a special grind on the leading edge that helps Fitzpatrick achieve the turf interaction, spin, and height that he wants,” says the PGA Tour. He earlier used the Ping Blueprint S (5-PW) and Ping i210 (4), both of which came equipped with Project X LZ 6.5. His commitment to maximizing performance is apparent from this shift from his enduring preference for Ping irons.

Short-game precision and strategic mastery
Fitzpatrick’s putter and wedge selection significantly improves his short game. With lofts of 52, 56, and 60 degrees, he uses Titleist Vokey Design SM9 wedges, which cost approximately $159 each. These wedges are well known for their adaptability and spin control, which are crucial for their agility on the greens. All are fitted with True Temper Dynamic Gold S300 shafts.
He entrusts his putting to the Bettinardi BB1 Flow Tour Dept. putter, a $450 or so special model that has proven crucial to his performance. “I’d bought numerous Yes! putters online but my putting coach Phil Kenyon noticed the backline actually pointed slightly to the right. I would line the putter up and the face would aim left, so I would hit good putts but they would miss left. Bettinardi got in touch with my dad quite a few years ago now, about seven or eight years that relationship has been going for and eventually they went at it for me and did a great job,” said Fitzpatrick when asked about his putter.

His go-to ball is still the Titleist Pro V1x, which costs $50 per dozen and provides consistent play and grip. Golf Pride Tour Velvet grips, which cost about $11 each, are used on his clubs to provide a firm grip when playing. Skechers supplies Fitzpatrick’s clothing and shoes; his sneakers, which combine both stability and comfort, cost about $120.
The golfer is ready to make a big impact in the TGL, and with his equipment choice, we are eager to see what Fitzpatrick’s extensive arsenal has in store for us this season!
