Rain and the Masters at the ANGC seem to pretty much go hand-in-hand. Whether it was Tiger Woods’ iconic victory at the 2019 Masters that was preponed or the 2023 Augusta event where the leaders played 30 holes on Sunday because of the heavy showers in the third round, showers have arguably always been a constant at the year’s first major. And it seems like this year, with the ‘Eclipse Masters’, that won’t change either!
The extended weather forecast from Brentley Ronnie’s official X (formerly Twitter) account predicts a mix of sunny and stormy weather in Augusta this coming week. And with chances of rain on 3 of the 6 days of golf and tradition, the rain and Masters tradition too continue!
On Tuesday, April 9, the players’ on-range practice will begin streaming. On that day, forecasters predict temperatures as low as 58 F and as high as 77 F, accompanied by a south-southeast wind blowing at a speed of 5 to 10 miles per hour. The forecast, however, also predicts a 25% chance of light showers. Regardless of the weather, though, the honorary ritual of the Champions Dinner that night will go on as planned.

Wednesday, April 10, will mark the last day of the pre-tournament traditions. It is the most exciting par-3 contest before the championship itself. On that day, forecasters predict temperatures as low as 62 F and as high as 80 F, accompanied by winds blowing from the south-southeast direction at a speed of 20 mph. To add to the risks, the weather has a 20% chance of light showers and a whopping 70% chance of showers and thunderstorms after midnight.
The Par-3 contest appears to be evenly poised to avoid disruptions. However, even if all goes well and the pre-tournament events run smoothly, chances are that round 1 will certainly kick things up a notch in the skies.
The skies above the Masters may see thunderstorms
Next week, the highest weather risk is on Thursday during round 1 of the 2024 Masters. With an expected temperature ranging from 65 F to 78 F, the winds will be blowing from the south, making their shift to the southwest at a speed of 30 mph with approximately 15-20 Gush. The day is predicted to be mostly cloudy with a whopping 90% chance of both showers and thunderstorms, and the weather too will be windy. The rainfall density will be somewhere around 1.00-1.50”.
Fortunately, if round 1 passes without interruption, there is almost nothing to worry about in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. On Friday, for round 2, the day is predicted to be mostly a mixture of sunny and windy, and there will be comparatively less humidity. The temperature will range from 56F to 73F, accompanied by winds from the west-northwest at a speed of 30 mph.
