The Augusta National Golf Club enforces strict regulations! Not only for professional golfers but also for the patrons. The luscious ANGC greens are getting set to host some of the the best players including the likes of Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Rory McIlroy, and more, and hence the excitement in the golf world is levelling up too! But for the patrons’ own good, they cannot let the excitement get the best of him, and there are certain factors that they need to keep in mind to enjoy the Masters to the fullest.
There are a few dos and don’ts that visitors should keep in mind including a list of banned items that are prohibited from being taken onto the greens. Let us dive deeper to know what patrons ought to do and what to avoid during their visit to Augusta.
What should patrons be doing once they are at the Masters?

- Given the temperature fluctuations from 50°F to 80°F in April, patrons are advised to carry sunscreen, lightweight clothing, and hats. Although these items can be bought at the outdoor golf shop, it’s preferable to have them on hand before arriving.
- It’s advisable to carry only credit and debit cards to make payment, as Augusta National operates on a completely cashless system without any QR scan-and-pay option.
- To ensure safety, it’s wise to be cautious of the grounds, especially in wet conditions when they can become slippery, making standing uncomfortable. It’s also recommended to wear shoes designed to handle such conditions.

- Patrons are also advised to regularly check all scoreboards or message boards, particularly for emergency alerts, especially regarding weather conditions. If there’s any inclement weather, a sign will appear beforehand, prompting you to take precautions even before play is suspended.
- The suspension of play will be signaled to everyone by an air horn sound or a similar alert. In such a situation, it’s essential to quickly seek shelter and avoid water bodies, golf carts, hilltops, high places, isolated trees, open areas, and wire fences.
- Prior to purchasing food items such as the famous pimento cheese sandwich, egg salad sandwich, or other items, it’s advisable to check the 2024 Masters food allergen card beforehand. As a reminder, it’s important to note that no outside food or beverage is permitted through the security gates.
- Prefer to come on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, before the official tournament starts to see the golfers practicing, and you can also bring your cameras (still photography/personal use only) on these days to click some pictures.
Following the do’s diligently will allow a smooth experience, but what will allow a smoother experience is being more diligent with the list of don’ts!
What actions should patrons refrain from at Augusta National?
- When it comes to entries, patrons are not permitted to enter more than twice a day using a single ticket; any additional entry is strictly prohibited.
- Never run on the greens of Augusta, we repeat, never!
- Do not resell your ticket. Not at Augusta, and not even outside of it.
- It is suggested to not over do the alcohol, as it can lead to disturbance on the course, and would even spoil the entire spectating experience for the patron. If you may seem drunk on the course, the Augusta staff will remove you from there.
- Patrons are restricted to one chair per person. Point to kept in mind regarding the chairs is that it should not be with pointed ends, folding armchairs, or be a rigid-type chair. If any chair is left on the property 30 minutes after the play concludes or when the gates are closed, it will be considered as an abandoned item.
- Animals or pets are strictly prohibited at Augusta National except for service animals.
- For safety reasons, there is a strict “NO AUTOGRAPH POLICY” while golfers are on the course. Patrons can ask their favorite golfers for autographs only in areas adjacent to the Tournament Practice Area and on the Par 3 course during the Par 3 Contest.
- Attendees do not have access to a will-call service.

- There is a list of prohibited items that patrons are not permitted to carry on the course:
- Electronic devices (cell phones, laptops, tablets, beepers, and other electronics), including devices capable of transmitting photos or videos
- Backpacks, bags, and purses larger than 10” x 10” x 12” (in their natural state)
- Knives and weapons of any kind (regardless of permit)
- Cameras are only allowed on practice round days (Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday) for personal use only.
- Radios, TVs, noise, and music-producing devices
- Flags, banners, and signs
- Strollers
- Food, beverages, and coolers
- Golf shoes with metal spikes
- Ladders, periscopes, and selfie sticks
