The Fitzpatrick brothers are talented golfers, there is no doubt about that. Both Matt and Alex Fitzpatrick are in a good place in their career. Last week only Matt made his debut in the Ryder Cup team and also enjoyed his first patriotic victory in European colours.

And now his little brother Alex is following the path carved by the younger brother. One week after the Ryder Cup, Matt has taken the lead in the $4.8 million Alfred Dunhill Links Championship but Alex is struggling. But despite that, he has set his sights on his ultimate patriotic goal.

One week after playing in the Ryder Cup, Matt, along with little brother Alex, is participating in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship and has taken a one-stroke lead on day two. Meanwhile, Alex is much behind at T102. However, he has bigger dreams and is not really bothered by his Dunhill showing so far.

Alex has revealed his intentions of playing in Ryder Cup 2025. The golfer, who went to Rome to support his brother, left Marco Simone inspired by Matt and wished to compete at Bethpage Black in 2025.

“It makes me very hungry to achieve that. I want nothing more than to play in the Ryder Cup and it’s always been a dream of mine, especially to play with my brother. “I’ve got my eyes set on New York in two years’ time, and hopefully I keep playing good golf and we’ll see where that takes me,” Alex told Bunkered.

The younger Fitzpatrick also expressed the desire to play under the captaincy of Luke Donald who he thinks did a phenomenal job this year. Meanwhile, Matt is giving a mighty display at Alfred Dunhill Links.

At Alfred Dunhill Links, Matt is one of three European Ryder Cup players participating along with Robert MacIntrye and Tommy Fleetwood. He left these seniors behind on the second day and acquired a one-stroke lead after an eight-under 64. The event is being held at Kingsbarns, St Andrews.

Alex, on the other hand, had a 74 in the second round. It may be noted the cutline at the event is decided after 54 holes. Also, the entire third day was washed out. The big question now is: can Alex make a grand comeback and put his Ryder Cup aspirations back on track?
