As the sixth edition of the 3M Open is about to arrive in Blaine, the anticipation is unreal. The event will have a 156-player field. It is scheduled from July 25 to July 28 at the TPC Twin Cities. This will be the last chance for the players to grab a spot in the three-event FedExCup Playoffs.
Lee Hodges lifted the trophy last year, defeating Martin Laird, Kevin Streelman, and JT Poston by a whopping seven strokes last year. He will be a part of the field to become the first golfer to successfully defend the title. While other eminent players like Billy Horschel, Tony Finau, Nick Dunlap, and Keegan Bradley are looking for redemption, there can only be one winner! So, who will it be?

The 3M Open will be a standard stroke play event. Just like most of the other tournaments on the PGA Tour, it will have a cut after 36 holes. Here are the top-ranked players on the field.
1. Sahith Theegala:
Sahith Theegala earned his first win on the PGA Tour in September 2023. This season, he has nine Top-25 finishes, of which six are in the Top-10. However, he has failed to grab a win so far. Even last week, he shot a 14-over at the Open to miss the cut. His record at the TPC Twin Cities has not been great either. He has missed the cut back-to-back in the past two editions of the game. However, among the field of 156 players, he had the lowest rank on the OWGR list.
In 2020, Theegala won the Haskins Award, the Ben Hogan Award, and the Jack Nicklaus Award, becoming just the fifth person ever to win all three awards in the same year. Ranked at 11, will Theegala finally be able to turn the tables around for himself?

2. Tony Finau:
Last year at the TPC Twin Cities, Tony Finau arrived as the defending champion. He defeated Emiliano Grillo and Sungjae Im by three strokes with a 17-under score at the fourth edition of the 3M Open in 2022. He has a scoring average of 67.60 in the last 20 rounds. Well, the 3M Open could be his first win of the season, given his great record with the tournament.
Out of the five times that he has participated, Finau managed to land himself in the top 10 in three of them, and there are high chances that this year might finally be a grab-for-win. But the question is, will he be able to amp up his game?
3. Keegan Bradley:
Keegan Bradley’s appearances at the TPC Twin Cities have not been that great. He has an average finish of 43 with an 8 under. However, the third time might turn out to be a charm for the 2025 US Ryder Cup captain. He might have missed the cut last week at the Open, but his previous performances this season have been an averagely good ride.
He made it to the weekend rounds in eight consecutive events. This included a runner-up finish at the Charles Schwab Challenge and a T18 finish at the PGA Championship. He is currently ranked at 21 on the OWGR list, which makes him the third-highest rank in the field.
4. Akshay Bhatia
Akshay Bhatia withdrew from the 3M Open last year for reasons unknown and will be making his debut this year at the TPC Twin Cities. There are chances that he might outshine himself in his first attempt, as this season has been quite a good one for him. He has not just enjoyed a Top 10 three times and a Top 25 eleven times, but he also bagged a victory.
Bhatia defeated Denny McCarthy in a playoff and grabbed the trophy at the Valero Texas Open in April. He is currently ranked 28 on the OWGR list. Will Akshay Bhatia be able to grab the second win of this season?
5. Sam Burns

Sam Burns had a pretty decent round in his first attempt at the 3M Open. He managed to bag a top-10 finish with a 16-under score. However, the next year did not go as well as his debut. Burns dropped down to a 32 with a 10-under. Coming back to the same ground after four years, he might come up with a strategy to take the win in his third attempt. He has finished in the top 20 three times in the last five tournaments this season, among which two of them were top-10 finishes. So, there might be chances of him bagging his first victory of the season.
While the competition is going to be exceptionally intense, how much money does the winner take home this weekend?

The sixth edition of the 3M Open at the TPC Twin Cities has a total purse of a whopping $8.3 million this year, which is $500000 more than what it was last year ($7.8 million). The defending champion, Lee Hodges, took home $1.404 million. But if he were to defend his title and win again this year, the amount would be a round-off of what he received last year. This year, the winner takes home an exact amount of $1.5 million.
Additionally, he will get 500 FedEx points for his name. Watching the 156 players try to make it to the weekend will indeed be an exciting sight! Who do you think will win the title this year? Let us know in the comments section below!
