Lydia Ko just added another laurel to her crown. Her nation, New Zealand, bestowed its highest civilian honor on the Olympic gold medalist. Now she is a dame. Meanwhile, one of her colleagues with whom she shares a South Korean heritage is teeing off in her country.

Jenny Shin is currently enjoying the off-season playing some of her favorite courses in the island nation. The LPGA Tour pro is in New Zealand teeing off at Jack’s Point Golf Course and the Arrowtown Golf Club. The former course is nestled by The Remarkables mountain and guarded by Lake Wakatipu.

As Shin explains and is evident in the video, the wind was blowing 30 miles per hour. Shin requested her fans not to ask the score. Reason? “I was blown away by the views. Not only the water views but the mountain views were stunning.

Then she entered the Arrowtown Golf Club. This 5,915-yard course is too short for modern standards. But it draws tourists and golfers from across the globe—like Jenny Shin—for a round or two in the idyllic layout. “It was arguably the narrowest golf course I have ever played on.

Shin also revealed her amateur partner struggled to keep the ball on the fairway. This is just part one of her New Zealand series, and she promised there is more to come. Fans would be eagerly awaiting this, as was evident from the comments.

Is New Zealand the ultimate golfing paradise, or just another scenic backdrop for the sport?

Have an interesting take?

Reportedly, New Zealand has more than 400 golf courses spread across the country. Jack’s Point is considered to be one of the ten best in the country. As is the Arrowtown. The charm, of course, lies in the scenic beauty of the golf course and its unique features, like the narrow fairways at Arrowtown that force you to measure your shots.

Little wonder that fans were over the moon witnessing the beauty of the course. “What an awesome post and wonderful showcase of Queenstown, South NZ,” one user wrote. “Sic course,” a second person commented. While a third, who had already teed off on the course, was reminded of the time they spent there. With a tinge of nostalgia, the user left a small note. “Played Jacks Point a few years ago. Loved seeing these videos to remind me of the course. Cheers!

The Jack’s Point is a relatively new course established in 2006 and opened in 2008. The entire course is carved out of an ancient glacial valley by Sir Bob Charles—the only other golfer to earn the highest civilian honor like Lydia Ko.

You are bound to be spellbound by the breathtaking scenery of the course. “Looks absolutely beautiful; thank you for sharing,” one user wrote. While another commented, “Love this! Was there last year, and it was unbelievable! Thank you.”

Queenstown can be dubbed as the golf hotspot of South New Zealand. Aside from these two courses, there are Queenstown Golf Club, Millbrook Resort, and Cromwell Golf Club. What’s more, all five courses are situated within a 30-minute drive of each other. Fans hope that the second clip will drop soon enough.
