Ludvig Aberg will be teeing off for the first time since missing his first cut of the season at the PGA Championship in Valhalla. The Swedish pro had previously withdrawn from the Wells Fargo Championship as a precaution due to a knee injury that he sustained a while ago. Aberg had explained that his knee was recovering well off course, but he still opted for a knee brace at the PGA Championship.

The 24-year-old’s road to recovery seems to be going well. He was spotted practicing on the golf course just ahead of the Memorial Tournament, this time without any knee braces. It appears that Aberg has recovered from his injury, and reports confirm it.

PGA Tour staff writer Paul Hodowanic posted a tweet sharing an update about Ludvig Aberg’s knee injury and if he was struggling at the range. Fortunately, the past struggles have left the Swede alone. Hodowanic reported that Aberg was practicing for 30 minutes and looked solid.

The writer further added that Aberg “Didn’t appear to be inhibited by the knee injury that kept him out of Wells Fargo last month.” Moreover, the 1-time PGA Tour winner was on the schedule to speak to the media before his first round of the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday.

But Hodowanic said, “Åberg will not speak to media as previously scheduled.” The absence of the Swede from the press conference is unrelated to his prior injury. The 24-year-old pro was on an impressive run till he reached Valhalla. The Swede played 11 events and finished in the top 25 eight times. From being ranked 914th last year, Aberg is now the 6th-ranked golfer on the OWGR.

Jackson Koivun is among them, as he will be making his PGA Tour debut at the 2024 Memorial Tournament. The teenager was also the recipient of the 2024 Jack Nicklaus Award.

The Auburn University student spoke to the press before the event started, and expressed how Aberg has paved the way for collegiate golfers. He explained that Aberg’s performance on the PGA Tour has opened the eyes of the patron and the PGA Tour to show the capabilities of collegiate golfers.

Furthermore, the 19-year-old amateur golfer shared that he admires Aberg a ton, saying, “He inspires me and shows that he’s put his name on some of these awards I’ve won, and I can go do what he’s doing and compete like him.” The two golfers might bump into each other at the Memorial Tournament’s first round, which will start in just a few hours.
