Young girl Lexi Thompson’s incredible record
Playing major championship events is the dream of every male and female golf professional. Moreover, playing your first major at the mere age of 12 is a feat only a few professionals could achieve. Among those who were able to accomplish the feat is Lexi. She qualified for the 2007 US Open at the young age of 12. As a result, she created history by becoming the youngest professional by qualifying for the US Women’s Open. However, Thompson’s unbelievable record, which probably could not have been broken, was finally surpassed by the young Lucy Li.

The 11-year-old professional broke Lexi’s record in 2014 and became the youngest player to qualify for the US Women’s Open. However, this is not the only feat that she has achieved. In May 2013, Lucy also qualified for the US Women’s Amature Public Link Qualifier. As a result, Lucy became the second-youngest player in the tournament history. Moreover, in June 2013, she became the youngest ever player to advance to the match play of the event.
Li carded rounds of 74 and 68 on the old course at Half Moon Bay in California. As a result, Lucy won the sectional qualifiers. She became the youngest player to qualify for the US Women’s Open and later teed up at the major championship event at Pinehurst on June 19th. Li even won the girl’s 10-11 division at the inaugural Drive, Chip, and Putt challenge at Augusta National in 2014. As a result, she defeated her closest competitors by seven strokes.

Lexi Thompson at the 2022 Chevron Championship
Lexi made a strong start to the 2022 major championship events. The 28-year-old professional also made a good finish at the Chevron Championship at Mission Hills Country Club in California. She ended the event with an overall of 10-under-par. As a result, she finished four shots back from the leader and tied for the fourth position.
She carded a final round of four-under-par, 68 to make a solid finish to the first major championship of the 2022 season. Her final round of 68 included two birdies and all pars on the front nine. In turn, Lexi moved out in two-under-par, 34. Thompson made two more birdies on the back nine on route to a strong finish at the event.
