Danielle Kang is among the famous names on the female professional circuit and is probably among the most successful players on the LPGA Tour. She was a part of last week’s US Women’s Open at Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club. However, Kang has recently been in the news due to a shocking announcement made through a social media post.
On June 8th, 2022, the LPGA Tour professional sent shock waves throughout the golf world through her official Twitter account. The announcement came to light after Danielle Kang’s brother uploaded an Instagram post on June 3rd. He revealed that the American professional was playing last week’s major championship event while battling a spinal tumor. Moreover, in her recent announcement, she mentioned taking time off from the sport and that she will be back when she feels 100 percent fit.

The 29-year-old also announced the events she will miss due to her complication, including the 2022 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship at the challenging and beautiful Congressional Country Club from June 23rd to 26th. Danielle Kang wrote, “As of now, I will not be participating ShopRite LPGA Classic, Meijer LPGA Classic, DOW GLBI and unfortunately KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. As a past champion this was not an easy decision, however if I’ve learned anything from throwing a fit to play in the US Open, I want to compete, not just participate.”
She added, “I will be taking some more time to get back to 100% and till then, thank you for all the kind messages and support.” Kang had earlier withdrawn from the Palos Verdes Championship in April due to back pain and in June, this unfortunate announcement about her taking a hiatus from golf to recover came to the limelight. However, only time will tell when World Number 12 in the Women’s World Golf Rankings will be back on the golf course. Do you think she will be back by the fall?
The golf world sympathizes with Danielle Kang’s announcement
As soon as Kang’s tweet came to light, the golf Twitter became a frenzy. Golf fans from all parts of the world started to react to her shocking announcement. The majority of the fans sent their wishes to the female professional and prayed for her speedy recovery. At the same time, other fans said that she made an excellent decision to take a break from the sport and return when she is healthy. Some fans even said that they will miss Kang and her honesty.

You have to do what's best for your health. Golf is not who you are, it's what you do. So taking time to let your body heal is better than playing and ending your career do to your bad back. Get better enjoy some time off.
