Nelly Korda, the world number two and Olympic gold medalist, has been absent from the LPGA Tour, since the Solheim Cup in September, where she helped Team USA to a narrow defeat against Team Europe. Her absence from playing and withdrawal from multiple events, including a major tournament, has left fans curious about her health and status.
Her hiatus, it turns out, was prompted by a necessary surgery followed by a period of recovery within the comforts of her home. Korda’s surgery was a major setback for her stellar season.

The big question now is whether she will be able to return to competition before the end of the year, and if so, how will she perform after such a long break and a serious health issue?
Unfortunately, LPGA’s cover girl will not be playing at the upcoming Buick LPGA Shanghai, which starts on October 11. The tournament is the first of the four-event Asian Swing, and it was also the site of Korda’s first LPGA Tour win in 2018.
Nonetheless, it is unclear if the 8X LPGA Tour champ will be able to play any of the remaining events, as she has not given any timeline for her recovery or comeback. However, some reports indicate that she might take part in the BMW Ladies Championship starting on October 19, and the Maybank Championship on October 26. We also expected her to appear in the ANNIKA Driven at Pelican on November 9 and the CME Tour Championship on November 19.
The impact of Korda’s condition on her season and rankings
Korda’s absence is a big blow for the LPGA Tour, as she is one of the most popular and dominant players in the game. She has won four times this season, including a major at the Women’s PGA Championship. She is currently second in the Race to the CME Globe Standings, behind only Lilia Vu.

Although, her health and well-being are more important than any trophy or ranking. She has shown incredible courage and resilience in dealing with her condition, and she deserves all the time and rest she needs to fully recover. We hope to see her back on tour soon.
