With the Amundi Evian Championship fast approaching, fans are curious to know whether their favorite players are going to tee off in the event or not. Just days ago, world No. 2, Nelly Korda, stole the show at the Aramco Team Series in London, and now as she heads to the field of the major, fans can’t help but wonder if one of her biggest rivals, Jin Young Ko, will be there to greet her.
Despite Korda’s recent London win, she’s still chasing the world no. 1 spot that Young Ko currently holds. And whether or not the South Korean is at the Evian Resort next week could determine the one-time major winner’s ranking fate! So let’s find out if Ko will be competing against Korda at the 2023 Amunsi Evian Championship next week or not!

Is Jin Young Ko going to play in the Amundi Evian Championship?
Fans have already witnessed Korda’s brilliance and skill in grabbing a victory recently at the LET event. Moreover, she will undoubtedly be using her last week’s strategy of one shot at a time to double her major wins and perhaps reclaim her spot at the top of the Rolex ranking board too.
Ko, on the other hand, has perhaps just as many people rooting for her as Korda does. And her fans certainly don’t want to see her lose her No. 1 spot to anyone. Hence, the question of whether she will compete next week is certainly an important one!

Well, to qualify for the Evian Major, golfers need to meet certain criteria, like placing within the top 50 Rolex rankings or being a top-10 finisher from the previous year’s Evian Championship, among others. And since Ko currently sits at the No. 1 spot in the world ranking, she has unquestionably qualified for the event.
Ko’s fans would undoubtedly be excited to witness the 28-year-old flaunt her skills in France while she tries to grab the biggest share of the $6.5 million major and keep intact her World No. 1 ranking. But how likely is she to win it?

Will Ko be able to grab a win at the 2023 Amundi Evian Championship?
Ko has had a great season so far, although there have been a few hiccups. She found a top-10 finish at the Chevron Championship earlier this year and followed that up with a win at the Cognizant Founders Cup just weeks later. However, more recently, she missed the cut at the U.S. Women’s Open at Pebble Beach. Fortunately, she got a bit of her groove back soon after and tied for 26th at the Dana Open.

Furthermore, the LPGA star’s history at the event hasn’t been too shabby either. The two-time major winner has participated in the Evian Major seven times, first in 2015, missing the cut only once. In fact, in 2019, she even took home the trophy. Last year too, she placed in the top 10, tying for 8th alongside 6 others, including her rival Korda! Hence, it’s quite clear that Ko is certainly not one to be counted out for the win.
