It takes a talented golfer to make it big on the greens. However, the player alone can only do so much on the course. This is where a reliable caddie comes in. And Maria Beautell has done just that as the dependable looper managed to support her golfer, Carmen Alonso, with an extreme passion for the sport.

What’s more, the Ladies European Tour decided to award the caddie with a special recognition in honor of her achievements in the sport. But curiosity naturally arises regarding the Spaniard who helped her on-course partner bag her first win on the LET, leading her to bag the prestigious ‘Caddie of the Year’ Award!

The Spanish looper was born on 13 March 1981 and grew up in Tenerife, Spain. Although she is currently helping out Alonso on the bags, the successful looper was also a professional golfer herself on the European circuit who has garnered her fair share of accolades on the course.

Beautell has a total of 2 Spanish Championship victories to her name, both coming off in the year 2014, including the DISA Cto. España RFEG and the Campeonato de España PGA. Moreover, she was able to emerge victorious at the 2005 Nedbank Women’s Masters, where she registered a score of 4-under 212.

Such an accolade-rich pro career has indubitably led to her being able to support Alonso much better on the greens. Furthermore, the 39-year-old’s caddie was voted ‘Caddie of the Year’ by the “caddie’s Association” owing to a “standout season” with the 1X LET champ.

Well, seeing the looper being awarded for her efforts is nothing short of an inspiration to many in the community. However, such a passionate person carrying the bags for someone does pique one’s interest regarding the latter, who managed to employ such an athlete as a caddie.

However, the LET pro’s first professional win came from the 2018 AXA Czech Ladies Challenge, where she scored an 11-under 205 leading her to win over the runner-ups by three strokes. And, with the recent honor, one can’t help but hope that the duo is able to garner more accolades in the future as well.
