A rising star in the game of golf, Rose Zhang has been nothing short of phenomenal at the Maybank Championship that is taking place in Malaysia. The golfer is currently aiming for her second professional win, both in her career and on the LPGA Tour, all the while hoping to take home a cut of the $3 million prize pool.

However, such a performance would not have been possible without any kind of help on or off the course. While she has her family as a support system off the greens, the question naturally arises- Who has been helping the professional with her bags?

Who is Rose Zhang’s caddie at the 2023 Maybank Championship?

The American professional is currently leading the scoreboard at the West Course in the Kuala Lumpur Country Club. She was able to register a score of 65 (-7) on the third day while propelling herself to the top of the leaderboard at 18-under. And by her side was none other than her caddie, Ollie Brett.

Brett is an experienced looper who has been on the bags for many professional players. Among the list of acclaimed golfers he has played for include the likes of Danielle Kang, Mel Reid, and Sandra Gal, along with Mike Weir.

When asked about her bagman in a press conference after the second round, Zhang mentioned how her caddie is “incredible” all the while admitting to having fun with him on the bags. Moreover, explaining her compatibility, the 1X LPGA Tour champ disclosed how Brett was a “great person” with whom she felt like “everything clicked” after a small game talk.

However, the looper isn’t a stranger to the golf community. Apart from being a capable caddie on Tour, Brett has been in the news many times because of his girlfriend, Emily Pedersen. Yes, you heard that right!

The bagman has been in a relationship with the Danish golfer for a long time now. The Englishman has been dating the professional for more than six years. Although they were a couple off the course, there came a time when the duo had to face each other as opponents in 2021 when he was caddying for Kang.

During the 2021 Solheim Cup, Europe’s Pedersen was paired up against the American golfer who had Brett on her bags. Although the Danish athlete won the Monday singles, it didn’t dampen their relationship in any form as they still continue to be a couple.

However, the professional pair of Kang and Brett has been a very successful one. During his tenure as a looper, the English bagman was by her side in five of the six victories she experienced on the LPGA Tour.

Well, one thing is for certain, if Zhang decides to continue with him, coupled with her skills on the course, she is definitely in for an incredible future.
