Since her rookie year in 2017, French LPGA Tour star Celine Boutier has been seen on the links with several caddies. It is always a challenge to find the perfect fit and the LPGA Drive On Championship winner has been plagued with the tough decision for quite some time.
However, for the 2023 Evian Championship, she seemed to have met her match. Jeffrey Snow, a long-time caddie with extensive experience working with many LPGA golfers, picked up Boutier’s bag and the duo proved to be a force to be reckoned with.
Jeffrey Snow had over 22 years of experience in caddying when they teamed up. His mastery in guiding his player, his total devotion to seeing his golfer win, and his past first-hand experience on the Amateur circuit made him a valuable asset on Boutier’s team.
Jeffrey Snow’s early years on the golf course
The prolific caddie has a lot of precise knowledge of the sport. When he was merely twelve years old, he began his stint on the amateur golfing circuit and loved the game. According to the PLTCA, he embarked on his career as a caddie in 2001 when he was 33 years old. Whether or not he pursued his dreams of professional golf is unknown, and so is what he did before becoming a professional caddie.
Snow is from Massachusetts where he grew up. He continues to live there but travels frequently with golfers all over the world. His early years of playing golf as well as over two decades of experience as a caddie make him one of the highly sought-after bagmen out there.
Snow’s best memories on the golf links
Over the years, Jeffrey Snow has curated quite a few memories on the golf course. When speaking with the PLTCA, he shared some of his favorite golf courses and his most treasured memory among many a slideshow.
Snow enjoyed caddying at the Olympic Club, established in 1918. He also thoroughly loved Carnoustie Golf Links in Scotland and the Oakmont Country Club which is one of the oldest establishments for golf and where pro golf is still a rager. Although he has traveled a lot to different golf courses and links around the world, these remain his favorites.
The experienced caddie also shared a fond memory from back in the day when he was accompanying Hyo Joo Kim at the US Women’s Open in 2018. He reminisced saying, “Hyo Joo began the final round 6 shots behind leader Ariya Jutanugarn and was 7 shots back at the turn (after 9 holes). Hyo Joo shot the round of the day, a 5 under 67, and finished the day tied with Ariya and forcing a playoff.”
Even though the duo ended up not winning the playoff round and Ariya Jutanugarn clinched the title, it was one of the greatest moments of his life according to him. They were on a winning course up until the very end and it was a thrill he still carries with him.
Jeffrey Snow’s motivation on the golf course
When talking about his caddying career, Snow opened up about an interesting aspect of his job. He said that he loves how it makes him feel when he is on the golf course. He has a front-row seat to the real action happening on the links and when his player succeeds or makes extraordinary shots, it brings him joy.
As a former golfer, he loves being a part of something bigger than himself. It motivates him to learn and grow, even in his 50s when he is already a veteran caddie.
