Arguably, there is no one currently in the golf world who is unaware of Bailey Tardy and her game at the 2023 US Women’s Open. Still for those who might be oblivious about her exploits, Tardy is the rising LPGA rookie who managed to tame the monstrous Pebble Beach when golfers like Lilia Vu, Word No.1 Jin Young Ko, Lexi Thompson all fell short of making the cut.

The first two days — Thursday and Friday — witnessed Tardy executing brilliant eagles. Unfortunately, the succeeding third round on Saturday wasn’t as favorable as the first two. However, as the 26-year-old aims to conquer the major title on Sunday, there is something other than the perks associated with the win that awaits Tardy back home.

Currently, Bailey Tardy sits in a third-place tie with Hyo Joo Kim at four under par on the leaderboard of the 2023 US Women’s Open. Undoubtedly, the past three days of the tournament have been full of surprises and ups and downs for many golfers. So, it really wouldn’t be a shock if Tardy manages to bridge the gap and clinch the victory at the 78th US Women’s Open.

Perceiving a similar line of thought, one of the reporters asked the young golfer about the money that will accompany the win at Pebble Beach and her outlook regarding the same. The 2018 Georgia State Amateur Championship winner had an honest reply ready for the question.

Professing her love for golf, she said, “Sure, there’s a big paycheck that could be at the end of this or that is technically, regardless. But yeah, I’m not really thinking about the money.

This is true! Instead of the cash prize, it was her roommates’ bizarre words that popped into her mind. Acknowledging how nice it would be to make money, Tardy confessed, “My roommates were joking, if you win this tournament, we’re all becoming your housemaid.” Well! Now, if she wins, the golfer will have something to tease her roommates about; which might be a bigger prize Tardy has her eyes on.

However, the golfer concluded with a smile and a shake of her head and revealed her ultimate goal.

Despite the light-hearted comment about her roommates that Tardy put forth during the press meet, the golf world has seen the potential the golfer holds. The reason behind her spectacular game is the love she has for golf. “I’m out here because this is what I love to do. Yes, this is my job, but at the end of the day I enjoy this so much that it doesn’t feel like work to me.”

It is the zest to put herself in the right position that the golfer aims at, not just the whopping $2 million cash prize from the colossal 11-million-dollar purse.
