The LPGA Tour will be entering its 75th anniversary season in 2025, and with it, it becomes the longest women’s golf league around the globe. Probably, because of all the growth the LPGA Tour has accomplished in the last 75 years, the circuit decided that the 2025 season will start later than the 2024. The LPGA Tour will be at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions as January ends instead of scheduling it in mid-January.
Moreover, in the 2025 season, the LPGA Tour will hit a record-breaking total purse prize of $131 million; last year, it was $118 million. It is a 90% increase since the 2021 season. The non-major events have totaled $83 million, with nine events announcing an increase in the prize purse and 24 others promising to provide a minimum payout despite missing the cut, travel stipend, or free accommodation.
On top of it, 16 events will have $3 million purses, whereas the CME Group Tour Championship would remain the only non-major event to have a $11 million purse with a $4 million winner’s payout. There will be five majors as usual, with three, the US Women’s Open, the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, and the AIG Women’s Open, moving to new venues. Alle five majors will have $47 million in total purses for the top female stars, a 104% increment since 2021.

Additionally, with these 33 official events in 2025, the LPGA Tour will visit 14 American states and 11 different countries. Although the number of events in the 2025 season remains the same, the LPGA Tour has made changes to replace a few events and add new ones.

LPGA Tour adds new events and removes a few
Although the LPGA Tour was told by the ‘fananalysts’ to stop trying to be a PGA Tour’s version and start taking new steps for women’s golf growth, the LPGA Tour has done the opposite and introduced a new event just as the PGA Tour did this season. The Black Desert Championship will be a part of the LPGA Tour’s 2025 schedule as the women’s circuit will return to Utah after 60 years since it played the Riverside Ladies Open at Riverside Country Club in Provo in 1964.

Another tournament that will return to the schedule is the Riviera Maya Open in Cancun, Mexico; this will be played for the first time since 2017. The Hanwha Lifeplus International Crown will also be making a return with eight different teams of four representing different countries. On the other hand, the LPGA Tour has moved the Founders Cup from May in New Jersey to February in Nelly Korda’s hometown, Bradenton, with Cognizant no longer a sponsor. This will replace the Drive-On Championship from the schedule.
