“I knew it was going to be a tough day.” admitted a sad Nelly Korda after the second round at the ongoing major, the 2024 U.S. Women’s Open. The golfer had failed to make the cut owing to her score of 10 over par after two days of play, much to the disappointment of her ardent fans. But she is not the only big name that failed to make a mark at the event at Lancaster Country Club.

While the likes of Wichanee Meechai, Andrea Lee, and Minjee Lee secured the top spots on the leaderboard after Friday’s play, there were many who fell below the cutline of 8 over par. As they move ahead in their run to claim the title of champion at the second major of the year in women’s golf, one can’t help but wonder who all failed to make their name part of the field on Moving Day.

1. Allisen Corpuz: The defending champion of the event was forced to leave early. 2. Lydia KoThe New Zealand professional seems to have replicated the misfortune she faced at the Mizuho Americas Open, where she missed the cut as well. The Kiwi, unfortunately so, could only make a total of 3 birdies while scoring nine bogeys, two double bogeys, and one triple-bogey 8 at the par-5, 7th hole on Thursday. This caused her to finish with figures of 13 over par by the end of Friday, thereby allowing her to make the trip back home early for the first time in her career at the U.S. Women’s Open.

3. Brooke Henderson: Five birdies over the two days weren’t enough for the 26-year-old to become part of the field for Moving Day. The reason? She accompanied the same with a total of 13 bogeys, not to mention the two double bogeys she carded at the par-3 12th hole as well as the par-4 14th.

This marks the golfer’s first missed cut at the major championship out of the 12 starts she made over her career, making it her worst finish at the same if one were to ignore the withdrawal in 2018. Her best performance came in 2015, when she placed at T5, excluding the fact that she has finished a total of five times inside the top 15.

4. Rose ZhangShe was fresh off a withdrawal at the Mizuho Americas Open owing to an illness that forced her to fail in defending her title of champion at the same. 5. Lexi Thompson: The 29-year-old failed to make the event a memorable one, despite it being her final U.S. Women’s Open.
