The LPGA Tour, on May 16, Thursday, teed off its 11th tournament at the Mizuho Americas Open, a week after Rose Zhang raked in her second victory on the circuit. However, as the Tour moved on to the Liberty National Golf Course, the golfer, who is also the defending champion of the event, was forced to withdraw from the same following an illness along with one other pro. But not to worry; the rest of the 118-player field will tee it off as usual on Friday.

So Mi Lee is currently leading the scoreboard after the first round, holding a two-stroke advantage over those at T2. Nelly Korda, for the time being, has placed herself at T17 while hoping to clinch her 14th LPGA Tour victory at the event. And to do that, she has to make the cut following the second round’s play!

When will Nelly Korda tee off on Friday at the Mizuho Americas Open?

Gabriela Ruffels, after finishing a scintillating T3 at the Cognizant Founders Cup, will look to claim the title this time around at the Mizuhos America Open. In order to do that, she would still have to beat the likes of Lee as well as the rest of the golfers who are currently tied with her at second place after Thursday. She will, thus, be part of the 38th group that will tee off at 01:11 P.M.

Who to watch out for at the Open

So Mi Lee was able to dish out an amazing display of golf with a 6-under 66 involving eight birdies as well as two bogeys, the latter of which she scored on the par-3 2nd, and the par-4, 16th. Closely tailing behind her at T2 at the Mizuho Americas Open are Ruffels as well as Andrea Lee, Bianca Pagdanganan, and Mao Saigo at 4-under 68.

Korda, meanwhile, will look to enter the list of a long line of golfers, including Inbee Park, Babe Zaharias, Annika Sorenstam, and Patty Berg, among others, with a sixth victory on the circuit in the same season. She had already equaled Sorenstam’s and Nancy Lopez’s record of five straight wins but failed to clinch another consecutive one at the Cognizant Founders Cup, where she finished T7.
