Nelly Korda seems to be setting her fans up for disappointment nowadays. Especially after seeing her miss the cut for the third consecutive time, and that too at the ongoing KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. But worry not, for there are other golfers who are aiming to take home a cut of the prize money as well as the title of champ. And they will be teeing it up at the Sahalee Country Club in the weekend to do so.

Keeping aside the top names who failed to qualify for Moving Day, the scoreboard sure does have the likes of Lexi Thompson, Sarah Schmelzel, and Amy Yang, among others, waiting to excite the fans. It thus makes one wonder when the field will tee off on Saturday to claim the title of the much-coveted, next major champion of women’s golf!

The golfer had earlier announced her retirement from the sport in an emotional interview during the 2024 U.S. Women’s Open. The American pro also mentioned that 2024 would be her last season of professional golf. But that hasn’t stopped her from dishing out an amazing display of golf at the third major of the season.

The golfer scored a total of 10 birdies along with four bogeys and a double bogey at the par-5, 2nd hole on Friday. This helped Thompson card a score of 68-72 over the two days, allowing her to finish tied at T3 with a figure of 4-under par 140 at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. “Made a double and bogey on the back but could have been worse,” divulged the 29-year-old, “So I stayed positive and made a birdie on the back nine as well and made some good putts.”

The LPGA Tour Pro also admitted how she would sport the same mindset for the next two rounds as well at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. “Mindset going into the weekend, same as the last two days,” disclosed Thompson before divulging her plans, “Get some rest this afternoon. It was a quick turnaround so not too much sleep last night. Definitely get some rest and come out, have a good warmup, and really embrace the crowd.”
