It’s the start of the LPGA Tour’s lone official team event of the season! The 2024 Dow Championship will see a total of 144 golfers, split into 72 teams, duke it out on the field at the Midland Country Club in Michigan on June 27. But as the event inches closer, it is natural for the community to get curious about when the various teams will tee off their first round of golf.

The field will comprise many talented professionals, including defending champions Elizabeth Szokol and Cheyenne Knight, Lexi Thompson, and Brooke Henderson, among others. They, alongside the rest of the athletes, will, meanwhile, hope to put up quite a performance as they tee it up on Thursday in a bid to rake in a cut of the $3 million prize purse.

The 72 teams will play in the stroke play tournament, which consists of both foursomes and fourballs. The foursomes will take place in Rounds 1 and 3, while the fourballs will happen in Rounds 2 and 4. Moreover, there will also be a 36-hole cut to the low 33 teams and ties. Thus, many would be hoping to put up a dominant display of golf as they tee off on Thursday. Let us then take a look at when the Tour pros will be teeing off in the tournament, as per the official announcement.

Thompson and Henderson had partnered up with each other back in 2023. The duo, unfortunately, missed the cut as they met with a disappointing ending forcing them to go back home early. The pair, this time around, will hope to dish out a better performance as they look to it a memorable final appearance for the American Pro who had announced retirement.

The two golfers, especially Thompson, will try to keep their momentum going forward into the championship. The 29-year-old had finished a total of 3 times inside the top 10 from 9 events while the Canadian pro boasts 5 of them from 14 starts. The former achieved two of the placements from the recently ended KPMG Women’s PGA Championship (T9) and the Meijer LPGA Classic (T2).

The LPGA Tour pro announced her retirement from the sport recently when she said, “While it is never easy to say goodbye, it is indeed time. At the end of 2024, I will be stepping away from a full professional golf schedule.” The American golfer expressed her desire to look forward to the next chapter of her life with her friends and family. Well, the declaration makes this tournament all the more special for Thompson since it probably would be her last appearance at the team event if she follows through with the plans.
