Just one more day for the LPGA Tour’s ninth tournament to end. The 2024 Cognizant Founders Cup kicked off on May 9 and will see its finale being played out at the Upper Montclair Country Club soon. Meanwhile, the event saw many talented golfers, including the likes of Nelly Korda tee it off at the same time. Aside from the 25-year-old, other athletes also managed to leave a mark, including Madelene Sagstrom, Rose Zhang, and Sei Young Kim.

Although many of the eyes would be focused on whether the current No. 1 in the world would end up making history, one can’t help but wonder what will be awarded to her if she ends up winning, or to any golfer for that matter. Will they be receiving just the title and the trophy? Well, the answer is an obvious ‘No’!

Aside from the dollar bills that are being given away to the field, winning or finishing well at the Cognizant Founders Cup will allow the professionals to receive points on the season-long leaderboard, the Race to CME Globe. Meanwhile, the winner will be awarded a total of 500 Race to the CME Globe points as well as figures on the Rolex Ranking for women.

The benefits that are offered undoubtedly act as a push for many LPGA Tour Pros to exhibit their best on the course. Regardless of the exquisite gameplay that each golfer dishes out, only one will be able to emerge victorious. Who will that be?

The state of the leaderboard at Founders Cup

When the Cognizant Founders Cup started, there were a total of 144 athletes setting their eyes on the trophy and the title. However, half of them were unable to make the cut, leading only 72 of them to move on to Saturday and now, Sunday. As the finale approaches, Sagstrom and Zhang seem to have picked up quite a lead for themselves as the two cemented their positions at T1 and T2 respectively.

Tailing the 2023 LPGA Tour rookie behind by 10 strokes are Sei Young Kim, Gabriela Ruffels, and Korda, all of whom are tied for T3 at 8-under. The 2024 Chevron Championship winner started the event in the hopes of making history by becoming the first golfer in the women’s circuit to clinch six straight wins. But now, it looks like a long dream. In the meantime, defending champion Jin Young Ko also seems to be a bit behind the scorecard at T22, tied with 8 other professionals at 3-under. Anyhow, with the benefits that are being offered, the winner is clearly in for a treat at the Cognizant Founders Cup.
