So far, Team USA has had a strong start at Finca Cortesin. One of the pairings is Megan Khang and Lexi Thompson, and they are already 3 up through 4 holes. The duo is paired against European rookie pairing in foursomes — Linn Grant and Maja Stark.
A couple of days earlier, a reporter pointed out the format of the Solheim Cup and how Thompson plans to overcome her form-related difficulties concerning that. During the format in question, the players compete for each hole, either winning or losing the hole. The excess strokes of one hole do not impact the whole tournament, and it stands true for both group and single matches.
Lexi responded that the game format does nothing for the pressure building inside her. And her focus is on bringing out her best. US skipper Stacy Lewis appears to have a lot of faith in Lexi Thompson. Golfweek’s Beth Ann Nichols took to Twitter to announce, “Lexi Thompson is off in the first match, paired with Megan Khang in foursomes. Bold choice.”

It is, indeed, a “bold choice.” Many fans have commented about this decision. Let’s delve into that!
Golf world reacts to Stacy Lewis’ decision
Out of the total 28 matches played during the Solheim Cup, 8 foursomes and 8 fourball matches are conducted on Friday and Saturday. On the tournament’s final day (Sunday), 12 singles will be played. Talking about Lexi and Megan, the morning segment of the Solheim Cup today (Friday) will see 4 foursomes games, and the afternoon will host 4 four balls sessions.
Many golf enthusiasts had their opinions about the line-up. One of them did not focus on who is on the course, and rather missed their favorite player.
Rose 🌹 is an ideal foursomes partner, should of been playing😜

Stacy Lewis definitely has some questions lined up for herself during the first interview after Day 1 concludes.
Seeing @SolheimCupUSA sending out a semi retired Lexi Thompson & Danielle Kang over a 2 time major winner this season for the morning matches is quite a head scratcher. #SolheimCup2023

“Fried Egg Golf” ended up divulging a fairly detailed yet important thought about the two players gracing the Spanish soil.
Terrific start for the controversial pairing of Lexi Thompson & Megan Khang (3 up). The veterans look way more comfortable than their rookie counterparts through three holes.
Long way to go, but the USA twosome looks like anything but the underdog early on

A counter to the earlier practice-tweet concerning Thompson is also present in the comment section.
She’s played fantastic in practice this week so I would have been more surprised if she has been left out.
