Lexi Thompson has been on a high-energy roll since the Solheim Cup. Although there were doubts about her form and performance ahead of the event, she silenced them with her game at the biennial event. Post Solheim as well, Thompson had done well in the events she played in.

She also received the honor of being invited to a PGA Tour event, at the Shriners’ Open. As a hurdle to her vibrant run, a recent update has dropped on her Instagram. She has shared a concerning report about her health and it doesn’t look good.

Lexi Thompson has put up an Instagram story about her recent health checkup. She has taken an MRI and an X-ray scan. The MRI on her hand revealed “swelling and inflammation around the bones and some tendinitis.”

The X-ray was on her tailbone and it didn’t show any fracture. However, it revealed “cortical irregularity in most distal aspect of Coccyx”. In layman’s terms, it indicates an irregularity in the bone at the bottom of the vertebral column.

Lexi Thompson had further shared her mindset about the health report. She wrote, “Even though it’s not ideal timing, I’m going to push through the pain the best I can.”  The updates are regarding the injuries she suffered recently from falling down the stairs. She had posted about the injuries a few days back.

Guessing from her message, she is probably planning to play in the two LPGA events later this month. There is also the Grand Thornton Invitational, in which she replaced Jessica Korda, to team up with Rickie Fowler. It’s natural that considering her amazing form in the past few weeks, she wants to sustain that. Perhaps she is worried about losing her form with a break at this point in the season.

Prior to the Solheim Cup, Lexi Thompson received some heat from earning a spot in the team. This is despite the fact that she received an exemption thanks to her Rolex World Ranking at the time, and wasn’t a captain’s pick.

However, she proved skeptics wrong by winning two out of the three-team matches she played in the Solheim. She also won her singles match on day 3.  Post Solheim, she pulled off a T8 finish at the Walmart Arkansas event. She improved it with her solo-fifth-position finish at the Ascendant Championship later.

With the Pelican tournament, and CME Group Tour Championship ahead of her in the LPGA schedule, it appears that Thompson is determined to play in them. However, it’s unclear if that’s what she meant by “push through the pain.” Whatever she decides, let’s hope for good health and recovery from the ailments she is facing.
