The 2023 AIG Women’s Championship has winded up on British Soil with Lilia Vu clinching her second major win of the year. First, it was the Chevron Championship that witnessed the 25-year-old dominate the greens. And, now, she has once again brought her A-game at the recently concluded major championship with a 14-under-par finish. But she isn’t the only star who has been able to attract massive attention through her performance. Another golf star who has time and again exhibited her powerful execution of adroitness, Charley Hull, made her mark this weekend, albeit less successfully.
Alas! This promising performance of the golfer at the AIG Women’s Open was still met with disappointment at the end. However, her compatriot, Georgia Hall, did not let the setback stop her from cheering for the LPGA icon and her brilliant finish at the major.

During the four days of the 2023 AIG Women’s Open, Charley Hull remained the most consistent name at the top of the leaderboard. Unfortunately, her stable performance couldn’t help her clinch an inaugural major title as she finished the tournament as a runner-up, her best finish in a major championship to date.
Acknowledging her splendid display of skills, fellow compatriot Georgia Hall posted an emotional Instagram story. Through the same, not only did she acknowledge her fellow English golfer, but it also showed her immense love for the star.
Mentioning Hull’s exceptional performance, Hall wrote, “So proud of you my Charles- did yourself proud and great fight out there.”
She was also applauded on her astounding achievement by her cousin and best friend Jodie Bradshaw, whose Instagram story was even re-shared by the golfer herself. Bradshaw highlighted how “unreal” Hull’s performance was and how she couldn’t have been more proud of her achievements.

Finishing at 8-under-par laced with two birdies and an eagle in the last round, Hull displayed an exemplary execution of talent. But luck did not seem to be on her side as Lilia Vu managed to get hold of the greens. Interestingly, this wasn’t been the first time the English star faced a disappointing result at a major event.
The ebb and flow of the 2023 season for Charley Hull
While the failure to grab the 2023 AIG Women’s Open title would have been highly disappointing for the English golfer, this wasn’t the first time when Hull choked at the higher echelons of the leaderboard. Starting from the very first month of the year, the 27-year-old finished the HGV Tournament of Champions at T2 alongside Swedish golfer Maja Stark.
While the following games were full of quality performances, Hull did not come close to winning a title. However, things took a turn on the famous Pebble Beach. The historic golf course witnessed the athlete cruising effortlessly through each round of the US Women’s Open till her fly-up was cut short when Allisen Corpuz won the title with a 3-shot lead over Charley Hull and Jiyai Shin.

This end wouldn’t have been so disheartening for the golfer had she not met a similar fate at the 2023 Aramco Team Series. Battling the greens closely with Nelly Korda, Hull eventually fell short on the final day.
And now, she faced another disappointing result at the 2023 AIG Women’s Open. Despite being tied with Vu after the third round, Hull did not manage to produce the outcome she would have hoped for on her home ground.
