The men’s and women’s 2023 golf seasons are at an interesting point. While male golfers are looking towards the upcoming Ryder Cup in Rome, the LPGA stars are now looking towards the Solheim Cup in Spain. The determination to bring home glory is pretty high amongst the American golfers as they prepare to take on the European golfers, and the recent victor Megan Khang, can attest to that.
Khang, who only recently found her maiden victory on the Tour, is now also a part of the American Solheim Cup team that will head to Andaluca. And still high off her win, she’s now opened up about how Team USA’s skipper, Stacy Lewis, is keeping the team’s morale high amidst the nervous jitters.

Megan Khang opens up about Stacy Lewis’ leadership
After winning the Canadian Women’s Open, Khang is now back in the USA. She is currently preparing to compete in Portland, Oregon, for the LPGA event, the Portland Classic. Before the event commenced, Khang sat with the media for a pre-tournament press conference, where she answered a few questions, one of which was about whether Lewis had talked to her at all about the leadership or expectations.
She responded that the captain has been very transparent with her communication with the team. Referring to her as an “open book,” Khang called the experience of being on the team “refreshing.” The young LPGA golfer said that when teams were being picked, they didn’t know about the skipper’s direction, but Lewis said to everyone, “Hey, if you guys ever want to know where you stand, let me know, and I’ll be clear with you. I’ll shoot it straight with you.”
The 25-year-old golfer then also shed some light on the motivating words that Lewis has said to the team: “She’s kind of like, I’m going to need you guys to show these girls the ropes. I know they’re very accomplished themselves already, but Solheim is a different beast.”

Khang added that she is aware that the Solheim Cup is going to be a lot more fun, with a lot more media and a lot more everything. The only advice that Lewis gives to her team is “to show them how it’s done.” The captain’s suggestion to the team remains similar to that of every skipper, that is, to get some points on the board early when it comes to matches.
Unsurprisingly, this is not the only interaction that Megan Khang has had with Stacy Lewis recently. In fact, she had one very unanticipated and unexpected conversation with the golf veteran after her winning moment in Canada.

Stacy Lewis made Khang’s victory even more special
When Khang was in Canada for the Canadian Women’s Open, she did not expect the 38-year-old to be there at the course since Lewis had to announce her captain’s picks the day after. But as Khang laid her eyes on her, she went black for a moment, as it was very unexpected to see her on the greens.
