The 2023 AIG Women’s Open has witnessed highly competitive gameplay over two days. With cuts being applied and greens getting more challenging, the vying has increased by octaves as the players will have their eyes resting on the prestigious cup. One such player who has been able to register her name over the cut line is Nelly Korda. Amidst Korda looking for a stronger comeback from her current position at T28, the American sweetheart could not hold back from being all praises for her fellow American currently at the top of the leaderboard.

Recently, the World No. 1 made an epic comeback with her Aramco Team Series individual win and the quality finish at the Amundi Evian Championship. However, the first round didn’t reflect this side of her form as she conceded 4 bogeys, but eventually returned the second day with an equal number of birdies.

The AIG Women’s Open has been a ground of mixed performances, with some old and new names stringing together on the leaderboard. While Nelly Korda, Charley Hull, and other prominent names were under great focus prior to the start, budding golf stars like Ally Ewing have demanded equal, if not more, attention with her standings and skills.

A reporter focused on the current positions on the Tournament rankings asked the LPGA Tour Pro about how impressed her “countrymen” had left her. The Olympic Gold Medal Winner, quite earnestly, replied, “Ally is playing really well.” Humorously, Korda even added that looking at how extraordinary the golfer has been, Ewing might be “playing on a different golf course” than others.

Complimenting her fellow American golfer, the 25-year-old admiringly added, “I’m sure when she gets it going — she rolls it really well.” The 2023 Aramco Team Series Individual Winner did not stop her praise for the 30-year-old there and mentioned how she truly is a “solid golfer”.

Applauding her previous victories on the Tour along with being rather difficult to defeat once she gets going, Nelly Korda seemed in complete awe of the all-around execution of her fellow LPGA Tour Pro. The skills displayed by Ally Ewing and her stature over the course of gameplay have been rather phenomenal and praise-worthy.

A lead of five shots post-second round soars Ally Ewing closer to first major victory

Ally Ewing has had two unmatchable days on the Walton Health Old Course. While other golfers have struggled on the challenging greens, Ewing rather comprehensively tamed the course over the two days. Even with the pressure of finishing on the top after the first day, the American golfer looked composed while consequently increasing her lead to five shots on the scoreboard.

Per Golf Monthly, the Mississippi born admitted, “I just really tried to stay in the now and stay in the present out there today.” She even added how her concern surrounded the matter of capitalizing on the set lead, as she currently stands at 10 under par after the gameplay of the second round.

The female golfer even went on to admit the source of her inspiration. She talked about Brian Harman’s recent victory along with his approach after gaining a significant lead. Ewing revealed that she particularly kept that experience in mind and took some learnings from her fellow “South American”, per BBC Sport.

The golf world is sure to be all excited for the final day of the event and would hope to see Ally Ewing putting her best foot forward.
