It’s the first major of women’s golf, the Chevron Championship. Interestingly enough, all the LPGA Tour Pros are currently trying to dish out their best at the prestigious tournament. This has especially been the case with Nelly Korda who, along with many of the professionals, were forced to stop their day’s play on Saturday. Regardless, it seems Korda was determined to experience some golf one way or another. Now, enter the PGA Tour.

Meanwhile, the Jay Monahan-led circuit is currently witnessing the RBC Heritage take place in South Carolina. Surprisingly, as bad weather hit the major championship, the American Pro couldn’t help but turn to the men’s circuit to watch Scottie Scheffler take the lead on the scorecard, among others!

The current No. 1 on the Rolex Rankings was spotted in an interview after the third day’s play at the Club at Carlton Woods. Meanwhile, she was queried on how she spent the last two hours post-round suspension, to which Korda swiftly replied, “I just sat and watched the PGA TOUR,” while alluding to the ongoing RBC Heritage taking place at Harbour Town Golf Links.

Meanwhile, divulging her mindset about the remaining round’s play that is set to take place on Sunday, Korda said, “I think you just have to try to be positive about it and just tell yourself that you can’t get caught up in possibly girls being on 18 or not having that many holes left.” What’s more, she decided on only having a positive outlook as opposed to a negative one as the athlete added, “I have a lot of opportunities left in the day that I can go out and maybe capitalize on a couple of them, then that’s good.”

Unfortunately, the third round at the ongoing major championship was hit with unfavorable weather and will only resume on Sunday, April 21, at 7:00 AM CT. Consequently, many professionals including the likes of Korda, were unable to finish their rounds, with the 25-year-old golfer stopping the day’s play on the par-4 11th hole.

Korda was just one stroke off the lead at the major championship before the third round was suspended because of lightning in the area. Fascinatingly, if she manages to win at the event, she would be successful in tying a record on the LPGA Tour as well, all the while raking in her second major win.

A fifth straight win on the cards for Korda?

The 12-time LPGA Tour champ will be able to join the likes of Nancy Lopez and Annika Sorenstam, to become the third player to win five consecutive events on the women’s circuit. While Lopez had managed to do the same in 1978 on her first full season on Tour, with a total of nine wins that year, Sorentsam did so during the 2004–05 season.

Anyhow, Korda is currently tied for T2 with a figure of 10-under overall. Interestingly, she had entered the third round of the Chevron Championship with a score of 7-under-137 owing to her numbers of 68-69 over the first two days. Surely, many in the community would want her to clinch the iconic victory, making herself part of the annals of golf’s history. Fingers crossed!
