The 2023 Amundi Evian Championship is all set to spread its wings at the Evian Resort Golf Club. However, prior to that, Nelly Korda sat down for a press conference on Wednesday. While the question only highlighted Celine Boutier, the World No. 2 did not hesitate to mention other golf icons who have been exceptional on the greens.

Referring to the game of golf in general, the 2021 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship winner said, “The women’s sports are what I can talk about, is the girls are getting better every year“.

Apart from this, Korda highlighted the names of Rose Zhang and Jin Young Ko. On the one hand, focusing on the South Korean professional, the 1-time major winner expressed how Ko has achieved two massive wins this year, which is remarkable. On the other hand, she pronounced Zhang’s name and said that her first win at the first event as a pro is an example of raising the stakes in women’s golf.

Zipping back to Celine Boutier, one of the questions probed the golf star to share her stance on the French player and if she could win a major title.

Upon confirming the name once again, Korda said, “I actually played with her last year here for the first two days“. This was enough to elicit praise from the 2020 Summer Olympic Gold Medalist for Boutier. Despite mentioning that she hasn’t had a chance to play too much with the 3-time LPGA Tour winner, Korda sincerely expressed that Boutier handles windy situations quite well.
