Social media sensation Paige Spiranac is, without a doubt, one of the most popular faces in the golf world, boasting significantly more followers than some of the sport’s biggest players. But internet fame has many pitfalls, and Spiranac has experienced it first-hand. In fact, earlier this year, the former pro golfer had opened up about her troubles with impersonators, who were trying to diminish her image online.
Now, months after Spiranac’s run-in with fake social media accounts, LPGA star and World No. 1 Jin Young Ko is now going through a similar ordeal, as evidenced by her latest revelation. Let’s jump in to find out more!

LPGA icon Jin Young Ko imparts a cautionary message via her social media
South Korea’s Jin Young Ko is one of the most renowned names on the LPGA Tour. In the five years since she joined the Tour, Ko has scripted several staggering feats to secure her place in history books. From besting Tiger Woods‘ bogey-free streak of 110 holes to setting a new benchmark for most weeks spent at No. 1 in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings, she has done it all!

But the 28-year-old’s ascent to success and popularity has also led her to deal with online troublemakers. Ko, who goes by @jinyoungko_official on Instagram, revealed on Saturday that a fake account of hers with over 4000 followers existed on the platform. She shared a snap of the fake profile (@_jinyungko_official_) to her Instagram story, writing, “This is Not Me. Check the Blue tag Plz.” Unlike the 15-time LPGA Tour winner, the impersonator lacked the blue tick mark beside their username.
While Ko issued a rather cautionary warning, golf world’s diva Paige Spiranac earlier put her imitators on blast. Back in February, she had thrown light on the trials and tribulations of having to deal with fake profiles on the internet.

While Spiranac gets hailed by the golf world on almost a regular basis, fake social media profiles have proved to be a thorn in her side.

The internet star’s revelation came in an episode of her podcast, “Playing a Round with Paige Spiranac.”
” I’ve been dealing with this for a really long time…there was another person who was scammed by a fake account…they’ll send fake driver’s licenses, fake checks, anything that you can think of they’re doing it, and of course, it is badly photoshopped,” she had confessed. Spiranac further revealed that she would often have to report “at least 20 fake accounts” a day!
