One of the biggest unsolved mysteries of the golf world is why hasn’t the LPGA Tour returned to New England in twenty years. Since 2004, none of the six New England states have hosted an LPGA Tour event. Whatever the reason for the gap may be, the LPGA Tour has decided to make a return next year.
Megan Khang, a Massachusetts native, rejoiced at this and shared the announcement on her Instagram story. She also wrote a heartfelt note expressing her hype and enthusiasm, all the while being busy racing against Rose Zhang to grab her second win of the year.

With the launch of a new exciting tournament, LPGA has announced its scheduled arrival in Boston, Massachusetts in August 2024. TPC Boston will host the event. The tournament is organized by LPGA Tour in combination with FM Global, an organization in the insurance business.
Megan Khang wrote a celebratory caption in her Instagram story as she shared the LPGA handle’s post. “Words can no express how thrilled I am to be able to have a tournament back in my home state. It’s been a long time coming and I can’t wait play.” The 26-year-old golfer’s excitement clearly shows in her rush to write the caption, resulting in typos. How endearing!
The FM Global Championship, as it will be called, will have a massive field of 144 players. The tournament is likely to return in the next four years. Reportedly, the LPGA Tour and FM Global have signed a five-year agreement. The event will feature a generous purse of $3.5 million, which is huge for a non-major championship.

The last time an LPGA Tour event happened in New England was in 2004, which was the US Women’s Open in South Hadley, Massachusetts. Ever since then, the LPGA Tour has not stepped into the region.
Moving onto Megan Khang’s current tournament performance in Kuala Lumpur, she stands comfortably in the top five after two rounds.
Megan Khang is on her way to another LPGA Tour win
Megan Khang is currently playing her third round of the Maybank Championship in Malaysia. She scored an impressive 5-under, in a bogey-free first round.
The second round tested her a little, especially in the first nine holes. Her two birdies were set off by two bogeys. In the second nine holes, she did some damage control by scoring two birdies while suffering a bogey.
In the ongoing third round, she has finished playing 12 holes at the moment. She has bagged five birdies in a round that hasn’t seen a bogey so far. If she can sustain this momentum, a title win is certainly on the cards for her. However, she will have to climb past three others, including prodigal talent Rose Zhang, who is at the top of the leaderboard.
