The LIV Golf has been facing a lot of criticism since its inception, with not many players agreeing to join its league. However, many have come forward to show their support for the Saudi-backed golf league lately, and the LPGA Tour is the latest to do so!

“It’s my responsibility to evaluate every opportunity,” the LPGA Tour commissioner Mollie Marcus said recently. “I would engage in a conversation if it would achieve our aim of promoting women’s golf,” she added

The golf league is presently concentrating on men’s golf right now. However, they could be creating one for women’s golf as well. And unlike the PGA and the DP World Tours, the LPGA Tour is not ready to consider them as a rival. Her revelation came after the former POTUS, Donald Trump, and the former NBA star Charles Barkley expressed their support for the league

LPGA Tour would think twice before joining hands with the league!

“There needs to be input from players and sponsors,” the LPGA Tour commissioner revealed. “There’s a lot of factors to consider before we do business with LIV Golf,” she added.

Many male players lost their sponsorship with big companies after signing the Saudi-backed league. Bryson DeChambeau lost his sponsorship from Rocket Mortgage. Meanwhile, the Royal Bank of Canada dropped its deal with Dustin Johnson and Graeme McDowell. Furthermore, English golfer Lee Westwood lost his endorsement from UPS.

Notably, Aramco, an oil company owned by the Saudi government, already sponsors six events: Ladies European Tour, the European golf organization for women. Moreover, three top European woman golfers are endorsed by Golf Saudi. 

The 2022 LIV Golf Invitational Series

The LIV Golf Invitational Series is the most rewarding golf tournament in the history of golf. The total purse of the first seven league events is $25 million, with $20 million for the entire field and the rest for the first three teams. And the purse of the final team event offers $50 million as a total purse. 

Charles Schwartzel won the title in the inaugural event at London’s Centurion Club, whereas Branden Grace won in Portland. Furthermore, the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster will host the third LIV Golf event in the last week of July.
