The highly anticipated major, the Amundi Evian Championship, is all set to take place from July 27-30 at the Evian Resort Golf Club. It is one of the five major tournaments in women’s golf and is co-sanctioned by the LPGA and LET. Being the only major tournament in continental Europe, every female golfer longs to participate in the contest.
Although only a select group of 132 golfers will be able to participate in the tournament. Played over four days, the championship will see 18 holes per day with a cut after the first 2 rounds after which the top 70 players and ties move on to play at the weekend. But a major question that every fan is curious about is whether the defending champion Brooke Henderson, will be taking part in the championship.

Winner of two majors including the 2016 Women’s PGA Championship and the 2022 Evian Championship, Brooke Henderson has had a bumpy year with just a win coming from the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions, where she received a score of 272 (-16). In the previous majors, the golf pro finished T23 at the Chevron Championship, and T12 at the 2023 US Women’s Open while finishing T15 at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship.
The question still remains- will the Canadian golfer be able to play at the Amundi Evian Championship? The answer is yes. She has made it into the list of contenders qualified to play for the major.

There is intense competition among the players to qualify for the championship. The Canadian female golfer has qualified to take part in the championship due to her being the winner of the previous year. Among those who have qualified, the winner gets to take home $1 million out of the total prize purse of $6.5 million. The field of players showcases a line-up of an average age of 25, with talented, high-performing players from a wide range of nationalities.
Henderson’s previous attempts at the Championship
The 25-year-old golfer has been trying to win the tournament for a total of seven years out of which she became successful in 2023 with a score of 17-under-par 267. Her previous top 10 finishes include the 2016 Championship where she finished at T9 with a score of 277(-7) and in 2018 where she finished at T10 settling for 276 (-8).
