Angel Yin was all set to play at her maiden HGV Tournament of Champions. Until she was not. The LPGA pro, who grabbed her first silverware at last year’s Buick LPGA Shanghai, has been sidelined by another injury blow.
This time, Yin is struggling with what appears to be a broken ankle. The 25-year-old was recently spotted at an event near Lake Nona, the venue of the HGV ToC. However, she was carried in a wheelchair, raising speculation about what caused the sudden injury.

Angel Yin was sitting in a wheelchair with braces around her ankles. The American star was giving a speech to AJCA players, sitting beside LPGA legend Annika Sorenstam. The Los Angeles native’s trip to Orlando indicates that the 1x LPGA Tour winner was gearing up to kickstart her season this week. But an unforeseen accident has caused her to bow out of the event.

Interestingly enough, neither the LPGA Tour nor Angel Yin made any official announcements. But it is abundantly clear that Yin is having difficulty walking, as evident from her walking boots, which are generally used to shield broken bones from further damage.
Whether Yin has sustained a crack during practice is not yet clear. How long the three-time Solheim Cupper is going to be sidelined will depend on the seriousness of her injury. The rising star is no stranger to injuries, however.

Notably, weeks after her maiden victory at the Qizhong Garden Country Club, Yin had to withdraw from the Maybank Championship due to a niggling injury. However, unlike now, the LPGA Tour announced her withdrawal from their official X handle. After withdrawing from the Malaysian event, Yin tied for 47th place in her last outing at the CME Group Tour Championship.
Notably, even before her career kicked off at full throttle, Yin suffered a shoulder injury. At that time, to avoid surgery, the 25-year-old changed her swing, which affected her game as well. NBC Sports reported that in driving distance, Yin ranked in the top four in her rookie season, 2017. However, currently, she has dropped to the 43rd position.

This time as well, it is a significant blow considering only last October, the 25-year-old sniffed victory for the first time in her 159th start on the LPGA Tour. On top of that, the American Pro also netted six top-ten finishes last season. If Angel Yin hoped to ride on the strong momentum, the recent injury has thrown a spanner in her plans.
