It’s been a month! Nelly Korda last appeared at the Kroger Queen City Championship in September with a T5 finish. She was scheduled to play at the BMW Championship in South Korea and the Maybank Championship in Malaysia in October. However, she injured her neck while practicing and had to withdraw from the events.
“I’m disappointed to miss these events and am especially sorry to my fans looking forward to seeing me play. I’m currently resting and working with my team to get better. Thank you for all your support — it truly means the world to me!” She wrote in a post announcing the news. While she is still absent from the 2024 TOTO Japan Classic field this week, there is finally a ray of hope for the Korda fans.
There is a high chance that Nelly Korda will soon be seen swinging her clubs in professional golf events. At least that is what her recent Instagram story hints at. She took to her official account and flashed a victory sign while taking a picture of her shadow at the IMG Academy, with a couple of golf balls scattered near her club. She wore a stylish white skirt paired with white shoes. With a celebratory emoticon, she wrote, “Cleared to start practicing.”

These WDs this month were not her first injury-driven ones this year. In June this year too, she withdrew from the LET Aramco Team Series tournament at Centurion Club in Hemel Hempstead, England because she was bitten by a dog. “I regret to announce that I must withdraw from next week’s Ladies European Tour tournament in London. On Saturday in Seattle, I was bitten by a dog and need time to receive treatment and fully recover,” Korda wrote on Instagram.

Nelly Korda missed out on the Vare Trophy this year, for which professional golfers have to appear in at least 70 rounds. To be eligible for the award, she had to play two more events. But she will still fall short. Nonetheless, she might still be able to grab the Player of the Year title for the 2024 season.
