2023 was a memorable year for Lexi Thompson. From being able to play for a larger-than-life cause at the Shriners Children’s Open to winning the Founders Award and finishing three times inside the top 10 on the LPGA Tour, she was able to make her mark in the sport. However, the last of the three would not have been possible without the support of a certain someone on the greens, none other than her caddie.
Now, a week into 2024, it seems the American pro is well set to carry forward the momentum she gained by the end of the season with her on-course partner. Consequently, the golfer decided to do the same with nothing short of a massive announcement on her Instagram, courtesy of her looper!

Thompson updated the story on her Instagram handle a while back, announcing her caddie plans for 2024. She did so while sharing a tweet made by Colton Heisey, a professional bagman on the LPGA Tour. He had revealed the 28-year-old as the golfer he would be “working” for, “full time,” on the greens.
In the post that was shared on his X handle, Heisey disclosed how he is “super grateful for the opportunity,” all the while dubbing the one-time major champ as “one of the best.” Adding on, the looper expressed his hope in the duo enjoying a “great season” and “success” while striving forward to “contribute” to the same.
The caddie had been on the bags for the pro for a while now. Moreover, the eleven-time LPGA Tour champ finishing inside the top 10 “at the end of last year” was all thanks to the bagman. Looking back, she had placed herself at T7 in the Annika Driven by Gainbridge at Pelican, T5 at the Ascendant LPGA Benefiting Volunteers of America, and a T8 finish at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship presented by P&G.
Super happy for @Cheisey3317 he will be on the bag for @Lexi this year.

Finding the right type of looper on the greens is a massive task. That is especially true for someone like Thompson, who is staunch in her belief that a trusted bagman is always the need of the hour. Well, then, who was the athlete’s trusted person before Heisey came into the picture?

The 2014 Kraft Nabisco Championship winner had employed her elder brother, Nicholas Thompson, on the greens. The siblings started their partnership back in November 2022 and were able to play in more than 11 tournaments with each other despite not having much success in the same.

The older sibling also boasts a golfing career that started at Georgia Tech University. Moreover, the 28-year-old’s brother was also able to emerge victorious at the 2005 Jones Cup Invitational, along with becoming a part of the Walker Cup as an amateur, after which he turned professional and played on the PGA Tour in 2006.

But now, with Heisey in tow for the bags, the woman golfer would be hoping to carry forward the momentum that she managed to gain in the last part of the previous year. Nevertheless, it would be fun to watch the two duke it out against the field on the course!
