It has only been a handful of days since Nelly Korda announced her withdrawal from the upcoming Mizuho Americas. The 24-year-old, who has had an impressive season so far, surprised many with her abrupt decision. Sadly, owing to an aggravated back injury, the golf pro had no choice.

Now, just days after her announcement, the World No. 2’s sister and fellow LPGA star Jessica Korda also took to Instagram to share a disappointing update with her fans. Let’s dive in to find out more!

6-time LPGA Tour winner Jessica Korda’s most recent appearance came at the Cognizant Founders Cup. She had withdrawn from the event just ten holes into Round 2. Since then, speculations about the 30-year-old’s form have been rampant. On Sunday, however, the older Korda sibling put all theories to rest by announcing that she would be taking some time away from the sport.

In a new Instagram post, the golfer cited back-related issues as the reason for her decision. “The last year has been an extremely challenging time for me as I struggle with an injury in my back,” she wrote. Korda further revealed that despite hours of treatment to get her ready to compete every week, her struggles have not subsided. “Unfortunately, we’ve reached [a] point where the pain is not improving, forcing me to have to withdraw out of several tournaments,” lamented the LPGA pro.

Korda has made seven starts so far this season, with her best finish coming at the DIO Implant LA Open in March, where she tied for the 18th position. Last month, she also appeared in the Chevron Championship, finishing in T28. Her last win came over two years ago at the 2021 Diamond Resorts Tournament of Champions.

As for her return, the World No. 31 said, “At this point, we don’t have a firm timeline for my return, but I’m working with the best of the best and am focused on coming back as soon as possible.” Nelly Korda, who is struggling with her own back injury, extended support to her sister after the heartbreaking update. Golfers Michelle Wie West and Natalie Gulbis were among the many who showered the golfer with love in the comments.

When will the Korda sisters return to action?

The inaugural edition of the Mizuho Americas Open is all set to kick off in just a matter of days. Unfortunately, neither of the Korda sisters will be on the field thanks to their coincidental back troubles. That, of course, raises one big question: How long will it be before fans next cheer for them on the greens?

The younger Korda sibling had earlier revealed that she was working with her medical team to speed up her return. “We are working on a treatment plan to ensure I’m back to 100% soon for the remainder of the exciting season ahead,” she shared. The 24-year-old may return to play at the Meijer LPGA Classic, which begins on June 15. Her last appearance came at the Founders Cup, where the former World No. 1 shockingly missed the cut.

The year’s second major, the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, is also less than a month away. And Korda, having previously won the tournament in 2021, will undoubtedly be looking to reclaim the throne! Meanwhile, her older sister hasn’t given any set timeline regarding her return but will be certainly hoping to bounce back into form in time for the impending major.
