Even though giving birth is a magical experience, postpartum is an underrated struggle that all mothers have to undergo, famous or otherwise. In fact, when you factor in the constant exposure to the spotlight and the scrutiny that comes with being a professional athlete, new LPGA moms surely have a lot to handle on the occasion of their comeback.

A similar reality is what faces Caroline Masson and Sophia Popov currently. The duo has even confessed that it is “totally underestimated what it’s like to come back.”

Sophia Popov even chose to describe her true emotions on the matter. She said, “It is so hard to get back into playing shape…I feel horrible. Like I’m a total noodle. I can’t swing the golf club. My body is so out of shape. How am I ever going to be the same again? Everything changed, my body, everything.”

Despite the difficulties that these players have faced, their choice to come back stronger is one of perseverance and lasting inspiration. But what has it been like for them to get into a competitive mindset and prepare for another competitive event?

How has the comeback fared for Caroline Masson and Sophia Popov?

Caroline Masson took the opportunity at the presser to describe how the last few months have served as a memento to a changed perspective for her regarding moms on tour.

In her words, “Yeah, not easy. I honestly always had so much respect for all the moms on tour. It just doubled or tripled in the last few months. You’re not only getting adjusted to having a baby and managing life just with a baby, but to come back on tour and put in all that work. I thought it was really challenging physically to get back into golf shape.”
